Default Changing Rego Question?

Hi all,

I have a few questions about changing rego between states.

I bought an EB Spac from VIC with 12 motnhs rego, and i am going to change the rego over to NSW and get the rebate/refund from the VIC rego.

So far i have found out i need:

- NSW blue slip
- Green slip
- Receipt / proof of purchace (transfer papers)
- Return previous number plates.

Another worry is the car has been in an accident before and was repaired. It had a bit of a bend in the chassie but has been "fixed" so car drives straight and has no tire ware, no worries at all.

All this is fine but i am curious of a few things.

How much should all this cost (+ how much is refund of VIC rego).
What sort of things will be needed to pass blueslip.

Cheers, Matt.

Blue Slip is just your general stuff like youd go through in a RWC inspection except they also check the vehicles identity IE VIN numbers etc etc. You got nothing to worry about there provided it hasnt had an engine swap/been rebirthed etc.

The rest - you will need a written receipt of purchase signed by the seller and you that clearly states what you paid for it (this is what they work out stamp duty on), vicroads transfer papers and from memory thats about it.

Re the rebate on the VIC rego, not sure how youll actually get it, I think it might go to the person who registered it down there, not you. But check that one as Im not 100% sure.

Make sure you also get a receipt for the plates when you hand them over.

Interesting. I was told by the girl at the nsw RTA that i hand in the plates, then they will send them to VIC roads and then they will send the refund to me.

Strange. I might have to talk to them about it again.
