Nothing like seeing the doted white lines as one single long white line! In a safe way of course!

Just another idiot that wont stop until he kills a kid - like what happened a few days ago with a 6 year old Sudan boy.

I do understand the police and government bringing out new laws to prevent this sort of behaviour - but at the end of the day, people are always going to do it.

This bloke should hopefully get some jail time - not a confiscated car and a fine.

What a douche, he could of done at LEAST 250, if he hadnt have been a sook about it

Seriously though, thats a fair speed on a public road, maybe he shouldnt get a fine, and just receive a 12 month drag racing voucher.

Thats moving, and pretty crazy speed in the Yarra Ranges!

Although it's not like people haven't been doing this sort of thing for years, it just gets publicised more and extremely quickly via the Internet news sites now.

caught him in "Break Neck Road" ....who could have come up with that line! hahaha.
Seriously though, I do not condone that behaviour, but if it was on an autobahn he would have been flashed by the mercs and beemers for going too slow. And in the NT it was commonplace before they reduced the limit and fatalities went up. Just my thoughts, and I know a lot will disagree. But before you do, how many of you have a speeding fine? And if a little bit over is OK, then why is a lot over not??

No, its quite possible to get to 235 in an XR8 if thats what you're referring to.
You wonder what goes through peoples minds when they start going at that speed in a public area, especially at this time of year. What a disgrace.

140 on the highway I could live with, its really not that obscene and on a clear highway really not that stupid, the 245 in the yarra ranges however... and im not sure on the area or route he took but if any of it involved suburban area's the guy needs his head read.

You can see how it could happen with the wrong driver behind the wheel. When most people I know were 18-20 many many moons ago with much much less traffic, traffic lights and police you would give your car a squirt to maybe 160-180 once or twice a year but the difference is these cars keep accelerating hard and fast at those speeds, would have got there in no time.

it does`nt matter how many laws they bring out, there will always be someone out there with too much tesTOSSERterone and some dumb thought`s going through their mind even for momentarily, who think they are indestructable, and it does`nt matter wether its a xr8,hsv or even 68 1600 cortina that will do 90 mph people will do dumb ----.

I'm waiting for the day when they introduce P plate style restrictions on full licensed drivers, no one under 50 can drive a car with 8 or more cylinders haha.

It says police chase? He must have lead them on a chase, what if he had given up? Would he just get fines or still jail time?

I'm old enough to remember the article by Evan Green that led to cars being tamed down.
( for the youngsters- it basically led to the government saying they wouldn't buy cars built by the big 3, ford ,gmh and chrysler anymore if they didn't stop building supercars
eg ,phase 4 ,v8 toranas etc cause they were too fast
so the manufacturers complyed and things got a little slower for a while.

maybe it's time to consider doing that again.

gtxb67- I don't reckon society is that hard that it forces a kid to do that sort of a speed.
getting caught doing 20 over the limit isn't a big deal but 235 should almost be time in the clink.

only thing he did right was surrender.

I don't know what the answer is and don't know why it is so but my personal take on it is that in Australia there seems to be a lack of common decency towards other road users and a lack of any common values for young people to actually work work with.
Take the UK for instance, it seems that all road users over there are decent towards others and they are curtious to one another. You see them merge and let people merge, you see people flash others and let then know its ok to pull out to over take, even trucks.
Speed limits are there but not enforced to the extent they are here, more importantly driver attitude and habbits are policed like undertaking and tail gating and not letting people in etc..
I mean you can do 90 mph in a 70mph and not get booked, but undertake....its dangerous and illegal and so it is here too but who has ever been booked for it.

Look I guess if you want to run a police state and nail evryone for a revenue collecting purpose then attitudes are never going to get better.
People are taught better values and decency.
Its really got me stumped why people can not help each other on nthe roads by being simply more curtious and patient of each other.

When and how is somthing ever going to be done to change this for the better?
