Am I alone in thinking that we are being overrun by American culture?

Its a funny question to ask on a Forum dedicated to an American brand (Ford) using an American invented technology (internet)
Although l agree the world is being overun by American culture, or rather commercialisim, l dont think of newbie as being an American word as such. |

On one 4wd forum i subscribe to (australian) everyone refers to their 4wd wagons/utes as 'trucks'. Now THAT ****es me off... Don't think there are many/any problems on this site though! |

This thread is really dumb.
You can't go anywhere without some other country's influence somewhere. Just get over it.

And if you start complaining about it and then actually get up and "DO SOMETHING" about it, you'll join a select group of people who feel obliged to attempt to maintain the status quo (not the rock band - look it up). You've probably seen some of this group most recently at Malaney trying to stop Woolworths building a supermarket. Then there were the ones who wanted to stop the Kuranda Skyrail being built because it would "destroy the mountain range". The fact of the matter is that we are living in an ever-changing town/city/state/country/world and when it comes right down to it, railing against change will, in the vast majority of cases, do nothing other than raise the blood pressure of the railers and cause a minor inconvenience to those causing the change. The main problem is that humans have a natural resistance to change - the only human who REALLY likes a change is a wet/dirty baby... Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to embrace change and use it to your advantage - how you do that is entirely up to you. Or you could run for Parliament, become the Prime Minister and then pass a law to ban all the stuff you don't like - that WILL work because Prohibition has been proven time and again to be spectacularly successful at stopping the population from doing stuff the powers-that-be deem unsuitable... |
