Hey Everyone,
I just recently bought my first car (an Ed xr8 sprint) and I need to get a tool kit to have in the boot in case anything goes wrong. Problem is, I really have no idea what I need! Knowing my luck I'll chuck a few things in there, have a problem and be missing the one thing I actually need :. Any suggestions?

nice car just sold a green el xr8 green is the favourite colour next to black. my advice would be a jack a wheel brace and a torch for starters a hammer a screwdriver a small shifter a set of allen keys, some spare fuses. very basic but its a start.

every car ive ever had has had its own little box of goodies.
things to include: some spare fan belts, radiator clamps (different sizes), oil (engine/trans/steering), water, light bulbs, variety of fuses, electrical tape, a jar of mixed size nuts and bolts and a FIRST AID KIT - IMPORTANT. your tool kit should include: 2 adjustable spanners of different sizes, one of those screw drivers that you can change 'bits' on (bits as well), some pliers, multi grips/vice grips, side cutters, plumbers tape, hammer and a good list of swear words. if none of this helps you then grab the hammer and list of swear words and cut sick! |

I think the most common tool I use workin on the EA is a socket set. Get yourself a good 3/8" or 1/2" drive socket set for a start as well as a few screwdrivers, adjustable spanners, wire cutters, pliers etc.

yeah if you're not a racv member already i suggest you join them.. they've come in handy a few times for me.
otherwise it'd be handy to make sure you have a jack, and wheel brace, couple shifters, couple screwdrivers, spare fuses, electrical tape, vice grips... thats probably the basic stuff to have. |

Can of WD40 is handy for removing oil/sludge and getting electrics to come alive
... or a tow rope and mobile to call someone to attach to other end

All you need is a mobile phone, with a heap of charge and credit, that is chockas full with all the numbers of the blokes from HERE programmed into it - cos you live in Victoria
They would fall over themselves to a) help out a chick (getting laid is of utmost importance, hey Yagz? wait did I just say that out loud ROFL) and b) help out a chick who drives a Sprint

I'd keep some spare fan belts and the tools to change them. This has been the thing that has saved me the most in the past.
Definately get an RACV membership or some other method of cheap towing/battery replacement. - John |

One of those basic tool kits from K-mart will do you to start off with. I always carry a basic tool kit, jumper leads and precious demineralized H20.
LMAO at Bindi's comments...... Yagz, you horny dog......
