rotors are warped.. machine or replace the rotors and pads.
whining is usually more a diff issue however it may be time to get the auto serviced. How many KM's on the car now?

Sounds like time for DBA slotted rotors! Hightek brakes in Moorabbin have a special on them for $100 each until Easter! There is a thread on this "Slotted Rotors" that has the info you may need. With the whine, how loud is it? How long has it been there? Is it there all the time or just when the auto is cold? I'd get an auto service and then see how it goes. Most forum guys talk about getting the fluid replaced every year or 20,000 kays, some guys say even more frequently. I'm now in the habit of getting it done once a year also. It's good preventative maintanence I reckon. I'm betting the fluid in yours wasn't changed for a few years though right? GK |

If the whining noise is more like a high pitched whistle, it is your fuel pump (I think). Just trying to help.

I think i know the noise your talking about. The Auto box's have a high pitched sound they make, like a valve or something not so much whistling as buzzing sorta thing. Only when Locked in First gear and when accelerating, sorta like a loud whistly buzz noise. My AU does it and so did my old EA, but as said only when locked in first.
When its dead cold it wont do it, but after about 1 min it will do it. Nothing bad, as far as i know.

Whine in 1st in the BTR auto is a common thing. Mine does it as well, and it's regularly serviced. The only way to get rid of it is to replace the box.

Get the transmission fluid changed, get the rotors and some Bendix Advance pads, and go from there.
All the best with it. GK |

Ok thanks everyone!
Should i get the brakes machined? How much would that cost? Or should i go and get some DBA Slotted rotors? Which will cost $400 for the lot! Money is a issue again until i can get a job... And do i need to buy pads if i buy the rotors? Cheers Everyone Simon : |

dont worry about the rear brakes, just do rotors and pads for the fronts.

The fronts stuff up far more because they cop the most heat etc. From what I understand and have read here, the rears are ok as standard rotors, just do the fronts. Hope that helps. Let us know how you go. GK |
