Default 28 Weeks Later is easily the best movie I've seen this year!! (my review)

If there ever was a definition of a good horror movie, this would be it. No, definition of a good movie. Period.

28 Weeks Later is the critically acclaimed sequel to the 2003 horror movie hit, 28 Days Later.

While there are no characters in this movie from the original, it follows the same plot which follows 28 weeks later after the disaster struck.
Mainland Britian had been struck with a new viral epidemic which were first introduced from monkeys. Labelled the "RAGE VIRUS" after infects its host, a human shortly after symptoms would begin to appear which could only be described as "zombies on steroids".

After 28 days had passed, almost 90% of the population were already infected and all hope was lost.

14 weeks later, the last sighting of infected are seen and die of starvation.
21 weeks later, Mainland Britian is labelled infection free and a NATO lead US tactical marine force is sent in to clean up.
28 weeks later. It is reopened to begin the rebuilding and restoration of the city.

People begin to move back in and everything seems to be returning to normal again. However, a single survivor of the tragedy who emerges though appearing to be normal turns out to be infected.

Only through the incredible chance her genetic abnormality made it possible for her to survive the virus entering her blood stream although showing no signs or symptoms is still a carrier of the virus which becomes transmitted through her blood and saliva.

Its 28 Days all over again! Absolutely madness and many amazing scenes of destruction and people dying. Not that its a nice thing however there is something satisfying about watching Britian getting napalm bombed by American jets flying over the whole city lights up in flames. Only to find out that many of the infected survive and begin spreading to other parts of the country.

The first 15 mins are an absolutely adrenaline rush, you will crap your pants!
Ending is quite good also in my opinion. Most people will say otherwise but I love the fact they leave a hole open in the plot for another possible sequel... 28 Months Later.
I won't spoil the rest cause its too much of an awesome goddamn movie!!

There is a rich story of survival, betrayl, hope, desperation, war and even love so it will appeal to even the most timid of horror movie fans.
Also stars the amazing and beautiful Australian actress Rose Byrne.

Official Movie Trailer can be viewed here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y0oSdqQuzdU

Go see it now at the cinemas! :

The ending is actually quite scary. It shows the massive ineptitude of those taking "charge," of the situation. Not the way I'd deal with it to say the least.

Gotta love the Yanks looking after the Brits in it.. blowing **** up, shooting... and they still dont go so well...LOVED 28 days, but i didnt think 28 weeks was as good of a hit..and yeah i can also see there being a 28 months, or a 28 days after 28 weeks, or 28 weeks ontop of 28 weeks movie....

I went to see this with the girlfriend. She actually suggested it. And then just as its getting good she decides she can't take it any more and wanted to leave, talk about ruining the movie. I still don't know what happens past half way damn it !

Thankyou for the heads up, cant wait to see it.

28 days later was one of the best movies ive seen in the past few years... there have been a few recently which entered this genre... but NOTHING has come close to setting the mood, nothing has felt as apocolyptic as this film.

The scenes in 28 Days later, where the character wakes up in the hospital bed and finds the streets empty, are some of the best shots i've seen in years for the low budget movie it was.

I can't wait for the sequel... I'll be seeing it thursday at this rate..

The original film was also shot in a particular style from what i recall (using a digital camera or something similar???), some criticised it but others claimed it was what gave the original movie its particular feel.

Most noticeable in the scenes where the infected are charging a main character and the film becomes "choppy".

Havnt seen 28 days, will now like to go see 28 weeks but just wondering thats all.

Thanx.

Not really but its preferred if you want to know the complete story.
The first movie is briefly explained in this sequel so you will know whats going on.

Went and saw it Friday night, must say that was one awesome movie!

Is it just me or was there a distinct lack of Army presence where there should have been, especially when the infected woman is in the room by herself when getting a visit from the husband?

There are many gaping plot holes, but a fantastic movie nonetheless.

What do you guys reckon the sequel will be called? I reckon 29 weeks later. 28 months is too long a time!
