Reminds me of that joke, a little boy goes up to a barrister and says "Hey Mister, is that your Jaguar outside?" and the doctor says "Yes it certainly is, keep well away from it, there's a rottweiler in there!" and the boy says "Oh, it can put fires out can it?"

Had my first car broken into at the station. Tried to steal my 6x9 speakers from the parcel shelf. Used a brick to smash the window and then bent the rear of the back seat like a banana.
Worst thing was it was an XA coupe and they smashed the rear light window and dented the panel at the window sill and crome trim. If you know the shape of the coupes you will know how awkward that area is to repair.

We've had 2 break and enters that I can remember, and a whole load more at my parents house in Kelvin Grove... we put bars on the windows, so they just used their kids to slip through. Mate of a mate secured his whole house, window bars, security doors the lot, so they got a ladder and went through the roof. "Locks only stop honest men" |

i live in one of the worst stereotyped suburbs of adelaide, no house break ins or cars broken into (we leave cars on the street) for 5 years. But we have a ridgeback. One of the best guard dogs there is but she is a sook all bark no bite.

EH Wagon broken into, ignition popped to start it with a screwdriver or the like..... alternator had died just earlier so the battery was DEAD..... so theft of wagon was unsuccessful..... so they proceeded to steal EVERYTHING from the car.... unfortunately I was heading away for the weekend and had stopped over at a mates place on the way. My mate was travelling with me, so the car was loaded with two show quality lowriders, camping gear, toolkit, two cases chock full of CDs, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, amp, sub woofer, face off the CD player etc etc..... to add insult to injury they spraybombed the whole sides, bonnet, tailgate roof with lame tags. Happy days

While at my house a friends car had an attempted break in (the lock in the drivers door was broken).
Had someone break into our town house, they went around the back, used a wheelie bin to get onto the second story balcony, they then removed louvers to get in, must have been really small, they only removed 2, and they had to get in between a desk against the wall. They took about $2 in change. We think when we came home we distrubed them, because they didn't get past the up stairs room. We came in and then went out to check the mail, which gave them time to get away I think. The cops rounded up the amount stolen to $10, I think $2 sounded bad... Thankfully they obviously weren't that bright, because I had a lot of $$$ computer equipment in the study, which they went into, but left untouched... They had to go out the way they came in, as the doors need keys, and we don't have spares inside the house, so that probably helped... Anyway, not a good feeling to know people have been looking through your stuff. Didn't lose sleep over it, but it is annoying... |

I've had my RS 2000 Escort broken into, caused no damage to door locks, damaged the ignition barrel, nothing stolen from car. Car that was stolen had been found torched.
My neighbor spotted people looking over my fence at night (6ft fences) both the RS2000 and XW are visible but are still secured. ANother night I had cops rock up at my place saying a neighbor had seen people jumping into my backyard.

I had my SS Commodore stolen a few months ago, it was recoevered after being found on the side of the road some 40kms from home but suffered significant electrical damage (the theives had attemped to rip out the wiring loom from the fuse box, and attempted to start the car with a truck battery).
Once repaired I sold it! It's not a nice feeling knowing someone has happily raped your pride and joy :-( |

My wife and were broken into about 6 months after we got married. They came in the back, opened the old school windows and fly screens and open the door. Stole Data projector, pull up screen, cables and 2 bags of gifts we were taking the next day to our folks (7 hours away).
Police came took prints and never heard from them again. Worst part... My wife and I were in bed sleeping and the stuff was resting on our closed bedroom door! It took me 5 years to get a good night sleep again (even after we moved 3 years ago). I still sleep with a flick knife within easy reach... Only good to come from it... The data projector was pretty shagged, and the pull up screen was pretty useless too. Ansvar replaced the data projector and screen (they were my works) with very nice and flashy stuff that have been brilliant to this day.

Got broken into 4 weeks after we moved into a new townhouse. Lost my wife's bag which contained car keys, mine and her wallet and my mobile phone.
But this just shows how thick thieves are, I got the phone back and the scum that pinched it left photos of himself on the phone. Moral of the story - don't move to Logan Shire, the place is scum and so low income its not funny. No-one will EVER change my mind.

Some junkie (confirmed later when the cops caught him) broke into our house when I was about 14. My dad and I were at work (I worked for him on the weekends) and the dirty beggar broke in in broad daylight on a Saturday on a very busy road and stole pretty much every piece of electrical equipment there was. The worst part was that my mum came home with my little sister and parked behind his car in our driveway as he was finishing up! Cheeky bestid says "I'll just be on my way now" and backed out of the driveway ramming my mum's car (with my sister in it) out of the way.
When I was about 20 I had my XF stolen never to be seen again. |

It's frightening just how many break-ins there really is D:
I am extremely fortunate to live in an area where there is almost none of this fiendishness but Dad's VH SS HDT was nearly stolen from the Cinemas one night. Thankfully, the dodgy immobilizer/ cheap aftermarket car alarm and the keen eye of the movie attendant saved the vehicle, with nothing stolen either! On a different level, at work today, some smart arsed... (Other words that I will not say) idiot threw what looks to be a half eaten Subway sandwhich at my car, which now has a mixture of salad and (possibly) teriyaki chicken all over my lip spoiler and in the seal of the rear windscreen. |

We have never been broken into..
Always had a fierce blue cattle dog tho... The current one is 7 and hes voilent if someone he does not know comes near our front gate / cars or even walks on our footpath.. Best security you can ever have he sleeps at our front door. I will never ever live in a house without a protective dog.
