How to remove stereo in Falcon 1996? I managed to unscrew one screw on the left side of the ash-tray.There are no others. So how do I remove the radio? I have no idea. Any tips?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Steven |

there are two screws holding the ash tray and outer support... one on the left and right.. Both phillips heads..
When you get to the radeo, you need some sorta tool to get it off... Me, i just used multigrips because im a stingy bastard.. works out in the end. Yeh but once you get those TWO screws, the support just lifts out. Hope it helps mate.

Yep, what GFDINTEDIT said, spot on.
Take ashtray out, unscrew 2 screws down near ashtray, then from bottom of the dash facia (where ashtray came out) lift up. Just make sure you use the proper tool for the radio screws, as I tried an alternate way and shredded the thread making them impossible to get out. It's for security, but a bugger when your doing home DIY's to ya car.

I think EF had two screws either side of the ashtray while EL only had one and a clip.....
The screws that hold the headunit in are called tamper proof torx screws. You can undo them properly with the security bit set from Dick Head electronics or Jaycar. Or just go backyard styles and butcher them like the other guys said lol. |

Thanks Guys,
This thing has still ONE screw, that is why it is hard, becaues it is different then the rest. And it is phillips head. No problem to unscrew the b...y thing, but the suport still stays in place. How much force can you use. I don't want to rip the radio out with a bit of a dashboard. I'd like to be able to put it back once I'm done. Thanks Steven |
