It would need someone who has the $$$ and the celebrity status to pull it off in oz.

there is a reason why foose's riddler show car took years to complete not a couple of days...overhaulin is a great show though much better than pimp my ride, Now an aussie pimp my ride that would be funny

An Aussie Pimp my Ride would be as great as the British version.

There was to be an Australian " overhaulin " type show a few years back, a couple of cars were done up apparently. The only reason I know this, is because a couple of years back a few cars went up for sale, that had been used in the show. It never got off the ground.

You need a big name, and big money to run something like this. Australian Television will never look twice at it. If it wasn't for a little law that requires x amount of Australian programming on air, we probably wouldn't have half as much as we do.

Well how about they get rid of about 95% of the Australian GARBAGE that they put on - marry my boy for crying out loud who the crap would want to watch such gunk - and replace it with Aussie versions of cool shows like Overhaulin, Pimp My Ride, Pawn Stars, Operation Repo - FUN stuff like that instead of lovey dovey crap, cooking crap (how many cooking competitions do we need???) and my TV might actually get turned on to TV (as opposed to being an oversized PC monitor for games & movies) more than once a month.

Appeal to a mass audience, have unlimited cross promotional opportunities and overall.. cheap to make, that's why they're on TV. That's the sad reality.

Mass audience? The only people I know of who watch them are females I overhear talking about it at work. Not one of my mates out there in the real world cares for anything like that.

You get Australian products on Aussie cars and you'd have a show that people respected.....
Overhaulin' is a 39 min infomercial.

The bondo masters and paint @ Lanzini +
Bauer Brakes +
Air Ride Suspension +
Edelbrock +
Magna Flow pipes and
Finished with a Bill Dunn interior.....

THe only custom one off stuff is usually the ICE and they get a small micro blurb per episode..

Aus Overhaulin' needs innovative products not sponsors

I can confirm he is a true gentleman. Met him at his shop in Huntington Beach back in November, and he is every bit the genuine man you see on tv.

I asked Chip if he would sign a 70th birthday card for my dad, and he wrote a message, as well as drew a ford hotrod, all in the space of about 5 minutes. He was only to happy to share a photo, and gave my little boy a toy Foose John Deere tractor.

Best day of my trip stateside.

Cheers
Steve

I've been a huge fan of Chip's work since I first heard of him. He knows how to go over the top but stay within the theme of the car, and my favourite is his ability to draw peoples attention with very subtle modifications.

If I could have one wish, having a car done by him would certainly be on the list.

If it were to work in Aus. Foose's name would at least need to be involved in the series, but with an Australian celebrity presenter with motorsport credentials. Eric Bana maybe?
