Default Isc

Yo,

I got a new ISC today as my old one (pictured below) crapped itself but the only problem is that its missing the hollow brass conector that fits into the pipe which goes to the rocker cover. The car operates fine (better than before) but i just wan't to know what this does and if it is essential to have it connected. I could just drill a new hole into the ISC and use the old Brass fitting but i would have to tap a thread in too and the CBF factor plays a role in this matter. I think this hose just sucks fumes out of the rocker cover but i'm not 100% on it. Me thinks maybe this is only for LPG since the new ISC comes without a predrilled and tapped hole???

It's part of the PCV (Pressurised Crankcase Ventilation) system. The engine basically needs it to stop the crankcase pressure building up, otherwise you'll start blowing seals and leaking oil.

Well it all makes sense now, it's because i have LPG that it's coming through there instead of where the black cap is. I guess i will just have to drill a new hole and tap a thread. Thanks.

I havew a ef late 95 model and it doesnt have that the pcv goes into the manifold direct ? you could use it as an excuse to install a catch can and not worry about modifying your brand new unit.

positive crancase ventilation system which recycles crankcase vapours back into the cylinders,it stops blow by until the engine is so old nothing works.

and nothing goes through that black cap,i think it's a vent of some kind,don't touch it.

Old thread now i know but just for some closure the reason it WAS going to the ISC is because i have a gas system fitted and it was more for convinience if backfires occur. I change the sparks/leads regularly so backfires will hopefully stay away. I saved myself the pain of drilling a new hole (in a brand new $120 ISC+1 mistake= costly) and just attatched the pipe to the normal location below the intake manifold with a nice strong hose clamp ;) thanks guys.
