Default Caught someone on video hitting my ute...

Thought I would show off my custom body work on the ute.

... and I just spent all of last Saturday cutting, polishing, and waxing the bloody thing...

Here's the story, I parked the ute at a customers site today, which happens to be a school. The car park is quite tight here and there is rarely a free spot.
So when I saw one, I had to take it. I was only there for a short time anyway, and this is the staff car park so I didn't expect anyone to be leaving any time soon.
I parked behind someone, but made sure that there was enough room for them to maneuver out of the spot they were in. It appears from the video, that they didn't even bother to look behind them though.

Anyway, I just happened to be trialing something on my carputer today, and accidentally left the camera rolling. Normally it will switch itself off after about 30 mins or so, but for some reason today (thank God) it kept going for about 50 mins!

Which was just enough time to record this... which happened at about 35 mins into it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyLSdXYLj-Y

They didn't leave a note either, so can anyone tell me what car that is as I will be going back to hunt the low life down

Needless to say I'm feeling pretty bummed out now...

Man that absolutly sucks. Go down there with the tape and show the school principle, call in the teacher who owns it and ask them 'wtf?'

That sucks mate, good luck with it though.

I witnesses a bloke reverse into my car and it still didn't get me anywhere, he just flat out denied it, police were of no help, basically up to me to put it through my insurance.

I would have settled for an apology.

Hopefully it works out better for you though

Yeh Mitsi Triton Dual cab with a canopy.. Looks as tho it has some damage to the right hand rear tail light as it looks to be cracked / not working.

Were you parked in an ACTUAL carspace or just in a spot in the carpark? e.g. were there lines around your car?

I'd be haunting that car park now, the roof racks are quite distinctive. Plus the colour with double handled canopy window, you should find them.

This sort of thing happens all the time. I not so long ago saw an old guy back into the front of a Nissan GTR while parking.

The old bloke didn't give a **** that he'd backed into the GTR.

I took the guys rego, waited for the GTR owner and gave him the details when he came back and told him call me if he needs a witness.

Good luck with catching them.

I would be going back to the school with the footage and asking who owns the car theres no way they can get out of it with the footage. Most people will notice its there car and not try and fight it

Mate if you catch them let the cops know because a hit and run is quite a big offence especially in QLD

Yeah but with damage to the rear left Tailie, and a matchup of the rear bumper to @rse of ute, along with the video, its quite damning.

Some silly ***** and her boyfriend backed into my car a few weeks back. Didn't realise I was sitting in it with my father, I jumped out and run up to the window and they crapped themselves. Dad jumped out and was ready to rumble too which was absolutely hilarious later

When I asked her wtf she was doing driving away after she'd hit my car she said "So what?". I told her if some guy had done the same thing I'd bounce his head off the road until I got bored and her boyfriend was shaking in the passenger seat lol. I don't think I would have been as nasty if there was some damage done to my car but there wasn't so I figured I'd try to leave an impression on her psyche if not her wallet for the next time she thinks about driving off.

Hope you catch the guy/girl, that bump wasn't big but it hurts when its your property.

Looks like he also has a small Bull/Roo bar on the front of his car too... Good luck catching the bastard...

It is an offence to leave the scene of an accident isn't it?

If he's a real p**** about it, take pictures of his car that would match up to the video (make sure to include the plate) and take the pics and video to the police. Get the Police report number, and go through your insurance...

They will chase him for the money and you shouldn't even have to pay an excess...

Hope you catch them pearly, I'd be furious, hang around that carpark in the morning until they arrive then let them have it! Just don't let them deny it or refuse to accept liability, that's a very clear shot and a distinctive vehicle, so stay persistent and you'll get your cash for a repair. If it's a teacher though they shouldn't give you too much grief.

I had a young p-plater (female) back into me a few weeks back. I saw the car reversing towards me so jumped on the horn, but she kept going until we hit. I got out and asked couldn't she see my car in her mirrors. She told me to '**** off ****' and then took off while flipping the bird!!! Since the rear was dented on hers I got in my car and tried to flag her down. So I spent the next 10 minutes calmly following her all over town (including 5 consecutive laps around the same round a bout) till she got stuck at a set of lights. I got out, opened her passenger door and calmly told he she needed to check the back of her car as she had damaged it on the front of mine!!! She pulled over then even with the *** dented she claimed there was no damaged to her car so it couldn't of happened!!!! WTF??? When she eventually accepted blame she claimed I scared her and that's why she took off. I asked her if she was that scared why flip the bird and scream **** off out the window?? She apologised and left it at that.
Upshot was the damage on mine polished out and hers sports a new dent.

What an ***, my immediate thought was a Triton. There is a sticker in the bottom right hand corner of the window, not sure if you can see it in the original video. I would think it is probably a tradey that was attending the school for something. Show a picture to a few of the teachers and see if they know who's it is. Most Teachers are fairly good at knowing who's car is who as they are looking out for strange ones all the time.

If you see the person, stay cool and tell them you have them on video hitting your car and that you would appreciate them logging a claim. Don't go off at them just yet as they may then fight it. Good Luck.

You'll def's catch the person if you go back tommorow. They probably dont have insurance, that might be why they buggered off. And i do believe those windows are tinted illegally black.

(i cant really say anything mine are too >.< But they hit your ute!!)

Mate you busted them big time. i hope you catch them, hopefully its a teachers car and not a tradie who was doing a quick job at the school.

Anyway i hope you get it all sorted, Im still impressed with the setup you have maybe you should try marketing it.

That sucks Warren :(

Does the school have surveillance at all? If so their footage might match up with yours if requested (especially if the Police become involved).

On a good note, I reckon a paintless dent removal specialist might be able to massage that one out.
