Default AU side mirrors

HAs any one had any problems with their side view mirrors? My left only moves out and the the right doesnt work at all.
Any ideas? Could it be the mirror themselves?

Hrmm, check the contacts on your toggle switch first (might be just easier to replace altogether), then check the mirror motors.

For what it's worth, occasionally, when I wash mine, if I use too much pressure on the mirror face, it skips inward or outward & if I don't move it back (manually) it struggles to move with the motor, so my theory would be to set them to the central position, ie; inline with outer mirror-body, then see if they will adjust from there. :

I need to repalce the driver's one .... someone decided they wanted to drive really close to my parked car ... left a crack in the driver's side mounting point (the part that connects to the car ... not the moving part ... so the driver's mirro now wobbles in the wind ... annoying.

Are they hard to come across???? I have the outer skin off already for painting .... I just need an entire unit

There's heaps of mirrors for them on eBay varying prices. I go there for AU bits and surf around...Cheaper than new but be careful of scams. $40-70.

Replace the switch it should be cheap (second hand). Maybe you can plug the mirrors in on the opposite sides (harnesses are probably the same) and test it that way. You will know in an instant.

Try a bit of automotive polish to remove any marks, usually the local panelbeater will tell you what stuff to use.

Mine stopped working a month after i bought the car. 12 months later i take the car in to have some work done on the stereo and BOOM, the mirrors now work again. i asked the dude what he did and he couldn't esplain. thinking maybe when he took the door trim off he had to disconnect the plug to the mirror swith thing. and he must have simply put it back in better than it was???

On a high-series model it would look good ... and colour dependant as well ... but not for a lower model ... would need other chrome garnishes in the car to match up.

Yes they do. AU, BA, BF have the same side mirrors. The chrome mirror caps came out on BA mach 2 LTD nad now BF Fairlane. As mechanic said would need other exterior chrome pieces, such as body mouldings, grill and wheels and on a black especially would look pimpn. With lowering of course. :

They looks the goods against any dark paint ... in my case though ... I just got my mirror caps painted white to match the rest of the car.

Sooo much better than standard black mirrors.

They might look good on silver too (the chrome ones that is)
