Hey guys. Just a question. Is it worth doing things to my car when it has nearly 120,000kms on it? I have money saved up for colour screen upgrade, and whole bunch of other things. Not sure whether to throw it all into it though but when it has 120,000kms on the car and Don't know what to expect as my FG is my first car, so don't know if it will last long or what happens. |

Of course its worthwhile doing mods on the car, its out of warranty so there are no warranty implications, you are free to do what you want (legally of course). I assume this has been recently bought by yourself, 120,000km is not much for a Falcon, it will last a quite a number of years more if you look after it, and colour screen etc will only enhance your enjoyment of the car..

Mine has 150xxx km on it and it still decimates V8 VT/VX Commodores. Have a look at my mods in my signature, they are definitely all worth doing. As others have said, these things last forever. My brother's BA wagon has 310xxx km on it and its just as tight as mine, which is just as tight as my folk's XR6t with 32xxx on it.
Go for it mate!

a mate has a xh with 800k+ on it and it runs like a dream, if a car is well looked after they last along time. Even my old bash about Magna has 400k on the clock and it runs like a dream. Only issue it has is a bunch of holes in the exhaust which was caused by yours truely trying to keep up with a mate in a land cruiser in a paddock...

My last EL wagon reached 390000km before i got rid of it.... its still around and living.
If you look after it well (regulare servicing etc) it should last for years to come

If you plan on keeping it i dont see the reason not to mod it.
If you plan on selling it to upgrade, then it would seem like wasted money to me. Whats odd tho is the more older my car has gotten the less problems it seems to have... *knock on wood and sacrifice a small bird to the Ford gods so it stays that way*

We call it the 'bathtub' reliability curve in engineering, there is a higher occurrence of faults initially until they get sorted out, then there is a constant lower occurrence period, until things start to wear and it increases again. My current FG is an exception so far however, nothing has gone wrong at all in the nearly two years I have had the car. |

Bought mine Dec 2010 with 142,000 - 8,000km drive back to Darwin then started modding with 150,000.
It really is a beautiful machine - see signature now with 162,000 Cheers Vincenzo

like any car if you beat the living hell out of it at every opportunity like some do, it won`t last long, if you do proper maintenance on it and drive it with mechanical sympathy it will go for many many years to come.

do you plan on keeping it a few years because thats when the finance is paid out?
imo i would keep saving, and bury the cash in the backyard to discourage you from spending it. Then when you decide/can sell it use that extra couple thou to get yourself into something else how many times have people here, including myself spent a heap on mods, only to randomly decide straight after they want a change, then all that money spent is dead money |
