Hi all,
The boys Eb is making a high pitch squeal noise after I fixed the front end. Its quite when at idle, put when he drives it it make the noise, Sounds like its coming from the fan belt. What have I done wrong? Uncle Ken

Does it happen more-so when you put load on the electrical system? Could be as simple as a loose belt.

Sounds like a loose/worn belt to me, usually the alternator belts go on them. try tightening it first and if it still does it then buy new belts for it.

could also be the bearings in one of the idler pully's. They always go. And btw, it's not a good idea to spray CRC on the actual belts, it will only make them slip. Spray it on the center of the pully's where the bearings are.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. The EB lights went out last night. My son called me up, I had to jump start it to get it home. Luck for him I picked up an alternator from the wreckers when I was replacing the water pump. I changed out the old one and now everything seems OK. I have just go back from taking the car for a long run. No belt noise, battery seems to be charing. Xrated I put on new belts last week. Hope fully the replacement alternator will do the trick.
