Default 17"s

Hey Guys,

Most of you know that I bought the 17" Strada's from Festec, to replace the 16" Strada's that I had before.

Well, Friday I had them put on with Toyo Proxes 4 205/40/ZR17 Tyres, and I washed the car today. I think the subtle change in rim size looks fantastic. They look genuinely BIG on the car now, and stand out.

Until we get some nice weather in Melbourne by which to take photo's, here is a teaser.

Same design as what I had before, (So blink and you'll miss it really) but, I loved the Strada wheels, they look massive now in 17" sizing, and I'm liking them muchly. Car handles great on its new tyres ( I won't be going near Falken ever again), AND looks the goods. Very happy.

They look awesome. It's hard to find good wheels. Out of all the wheels I've seen on Fiestas, i've found that 5 spokes look better than most other wheels.

Although OZ superleggeras look sweet too.

Very nice guys. 17" rims seem to fill the guards perfectly if you ask me.

The Strada's just look "so sweet" on the Red car Danny........why oh why did Ford drop the Red on the WQ Zetec?.......I had my mind all set on a Red Zetec all along when I was in the dealership, the car I did my test drive in was even a Red WQ LX, then the dealer gave me the bad news......sorry, but Red is not available on the Zetec model..."aaaaarrrrrgggggg!!!".... :jab:

Nah nah 4x108 is the PCD or Stud Pattern.

The offset is 40-50mm The Strada 16"s were 40mm, and the 17"s are 50mm. So it's somewhere around those figures.

Standard offset is 52mm, I've heard 40's fit ok, 45 is probably as low as I would go.

Beautiful cars, mates. The 17s look very schmick. I'd love to get 17s but I'll never be able to justify the expense to the Mrs. Unless I get the Focus Zetec 17" alloys with the same spoke pattern - she'll never notice the difference!

It isn't in that particular pic.......but it is now, got King Springs on the Gold Coast to install a set of lowered springs for $300 a couple of weeks ago, I phoned them up and queried them as to whether the springs for the WP they manufacture would be suitable for the new WQ model as they don't yet list any springs in their latest 2006 catalogue for the WQ model, the bloke I spoke with on the phone wasn't absolutely sure and asked me if I would like to take the car down to them to compare the WP springs to the standard ones in my WQ, and if they are suitable then they would supply and install the springs for "half price"......."bargain!",..... as it turns out they are in fact identical and the WP springs are fine for the WQ.

Personally I'm not particularly happy with em to tell the truth Mitch, I find they make the steering quite "vague" and they grab every undulation in the road surface and tend to pull the car "this way and then that way", they dont seem to track as nice as others Iv'e had in the past.....dont think I'll be getting another set when these wear out, I always had Dunlop LM702's on my previous car and they were very good, nice and quiet with excellent handling and grip in all conditions, also the Continental's that came standard on the car in my opinion were just beautiful, in a totally different class compared to the BFG's that are on the car now.......but of course it's only my opinion, plenty of others are very happy with em including yourself......I did a fair amount of research before buying them and it would seem I am very much in the minority in regards to my opinion of the BFG's.

I love Conti's and would have got them had they made it in 205/40/17.

I instead got Toyo's and they are absolutely FANTASTIC! Especially in the wet. BFGoodrich I'm not a fan of. Its just a big american truck tyre to me and has no place on anything sporty. But thats my opinion based on what I've heard (and now confirmed by Rob), and I avoid them like the plague.
