from what ive read it seems too much like old school nintendo's, the graphics don't even compare to 360/PS3, the only advantage they seem to offer is the hand controller thingy! I think il be going Xbox 360 in the end. Been a nintendo boy since the NES, just think they should go beyond and above the competition, as they are the original giants of gaming consoles!

I haven't seen the new nintendo, i was a major fan of the Super and N64 but found that after that their target demographic seemed to be strictly children :S

sounds like Nintendo are the first to take a step in the right direction: to get fat little kids off their **** and doing excersize by making them have to move while they play games. sure the graphics arent as great as the other brands (still nothing to whinge about though) but Nintendo should be commended none the less.

Nintendo Wii will rock, but because of their style, price, and uniqueness, looks like most gamers will decide between a 360 and PS3, but a lot of those will also buy a Wii to go with their selection between the other two.
Long live Nintendo, always been the best ;) (for the record, i'm not that one-eyed - I have almost every console since the NES, including odd ones that games didn't even get made for apart from the game that came with it, but I still find the Nintendo systems offer better enjoyment, gameplay and fun. Graphics aren't the be all and end all of gaming Can't believe the amount of times the mates come over and we get in to the 'Duck Hunt' challenge after a few drinks :evil_laug ) Anyhow, a mate of mine is playing one tonight (if i remember correctly) and he's a non-Nintendo man, but really looking forward to it, so I'll have to pass on his thoughts... |

Nintendo are known for their "kiddy" games, having that said they're alot of fun to just sit and play. I just bought a Nintendo 64 after about 8 years and recon thats a ball so I don't know...
I don't know about all of you (someone might correct me who's actually used it), but the controller looks like it'll become a pain to use, at least with the convensional controller you use both hands to hold it and don't have to move your hand and wrist to controll |

From my limited knowledge of the Wii it seems they're focusing on kids and the 'party' type games.
I can't see myself using that remote thingy as more than a novelty thing. Can you use it as a normal controller aswell? |

Don't think so, because all it has on it is the up/down/left/right keys.
Pretty good for the cost but, and also saw the steering wheel gizmo they've made as well... Just a wheel the remote plugs into for racing games, only about $20 so thats alright. Just think its going to cause a generation of people with RSI....... |

You can buy a more traditional style controller for it..... think I saw it in a Kmart catalogue.

Got my Wii this morning. I've had nearly every console released is Australia, and was definitely getting bored of the same video games with better graphics.
My advice: Before you label it kiddie, try the Wii for yourself. Wii Sports is one of the most fun games in years, and Zelda is definitely for mature gamers, with a M rating. If I decide to get another console for the graphics it will be the 360. I paid $750 for my PS2 at launch, and with the PS3 expected to sell for $999 next year, Sony isn't seeing my money any time again soon.

not sure if I will buy a console this generation, if a game comes out that I want badly enough then maybe.
PC has been my platform of choice for a while now. I'm a Sega boy at heart so depending on what they release for the new consoles will sway my purchase. Sonic for Xbox360 looks like a winner but that will more than likely be released on the Wii also. This is how I see things Xbox 360, strong 1st party support with some big titles forth coming like Halo 3. I've already spent alot of money upgrading my PC so the Xbox 360 doesn't really have alot of appeal to me. Wii, a bit weird I think. I haven't tried it, I'm interest to try it but until then I'm not a fan of the unconventional controller. PS3, heard some rumours about a rushed release. Same rumours as PS2 if anyone recalls. I'm fairly confident PS3 will have the best software line-up of them all going what Sony have achieved in the past. I don't see the PS3 staying at $999 for too long if that really is the price.

I then tried an old GameCube Zelda game to compare, and the old controls don't seem any where near as interactive.

And I think thats what Nintendo have gone with, the whole interactive thing.
IMO they have never gotten near Sony's range, or power. So they try a different angle. If you have a look at the games selling well at the moment, they are interavtive. Singstar, that guitar one, Buzz. Wii goes one step further I guess and incorporates that into all of its games. The only thing I am suss on is that the control pad doesn't look that complicated, so perhaps for games where you need lots of buttons it mightn't be so good. In saying that I am a Sony person as much as I am a Ford person, and im not buying a Holden.

The thing about the Wii is that its gathering customers who have never been interested in consoles
