Default 301rwkw T3- Finally Finished!

Hey everyone- just have to say that today it is finally finished- the valve springs are done, the tune is complete and the results are in!

403.2rwhp and 390ft lbs or 301rwkw and 529nm

I'm like a dog with two tails, I'm absolutely stoked!

I will be running it down Kwinana tomorrow night- I am not a drag racer and have only been once, but I just want to get it out of the hole and see what it can run- I hardly expect I will reveal the car's ultimate potential on it's first outing but just want to see what she can do

And I will let you know how she goes! Can't wait

Would love to say thank you for the support alot of you have given me over the last few years of the build (yes, it's been that long!) as I have very much enjoyed sharing it with everyone

The next chapter of both mine and the car's life will continue as we part our ways- I can now let her go knowing what she can do and hopefully what it is capable of. I am going to miss her very much, but hope the next owner can enjoy her as I have........

Congrats Jim, I really dont think you should sell it given the time, effort and dollars you have sunk into it, but if you do it will be one hell of a good buy for the right person.

Hard to say actually mate- the last time it was tuned the best it ran was 385hp

BUT the best it had previously run (when the engine was near new) was 398.4hp

The long and short is, since the springs had "gone off" the springs alone made nearly 20hp difference

But, Simon didn't even touch the tune this time around :Up_to_som I took it there to make sure everything was OK and this is what it did on it's first run, perfect AFR's, a power curve that was a minimum of 20hp better everywhere, a nice torque curve, clean revving and a 37deg IT too.......

To say I'm happy is really an understatement

Thanks for the nice comments everyone, really enjoyed driving the car this week- much better

I was lazy and copied a post I put in the T series room to answer this!!

Well my night out wasn't all that bad- looking past the ET I could see the car improve as the night went on- even if I didn't!

13.498 @ 108.2mph

The killer? a 2.417 60'.......

I ran this car when it was new with a best of 13.932 @ 103mph from memory- I've never managed a sub 2.4 60', whether through fear of breaking something or just inexperience I don't know, but if I was able to run a 2.0 60', which still isn't impressive (but a hundred times better than what I have), it would run it's 12, which I think a better driver would certainly be capable of.

I guess everyone says it, but the track conditions weren't ideal. Best run was 8.45pm with 41.7deg track temp, 32.7deg ambient, 47% humidity, 4.0 knot headwind. I thought this may have just been an excuse- everyone was saying it, but my times dropped as soon as the temp dropped (although it never got below 30.1deg ambient!). the first run of the night saw the track at 47deg, with an ambient of 35.3deg......

Al in all, 10 runs for the night- the 13.498 being the quickest and a 13.801 being the slowest, 110.1mph being the fastest MPH for the night. All between 2.4- 2.5 60'. I ran fully fuelled, my daily 18" tyres at 38.5psi, trying to ride the clutch out at anywhere between 2300rpm and 3500rpm, the 3500rpm clutch-riding launch giving me the best time, albeit a bit shaky with some wheelspin. Tried a clutch-dump launch at 2500rpm and that was the worst time, didn't try any handbrake launches or anything tricky like that, but my mate Phil ran an 11.5 in his manual Typhoon last week so might see if he wants a run........

So, am I disappointed I didn't run the number? Not really, had a great time and I can see the cars potential, more disappointed in my own abilities, but happy in the knowledge that I looked after the car and that everything is ok.

But I will be back there when the temp drops a bit, if i still have the car of course.......

mate congrats on your success. i've long said that this is hands down THE best au in the country, you should be rightly chuffed with the outcome.

i showed my missus the pics of your car the other night - she couldn't beleive i'd actually admit to liking someone else's car more than my own, but credit where credit's due i say.

Wow! Thanks mate! That's a big call though! lol

Really appreciate the kind words fellas, it's that sort of thing that makes sharing every intimate detail really rewarding and why I enjoy it so much

The car is sensational, I mean really- look at what it is and to get those sorts of numbers is just unbelievable.

I would love to run the 12sec in it as people will just knock it til it has, but that's my fault more than anythig- just not experienced enough at the drag strip to make the most of the car, but only been once since it's been finished too and got better as the night went on.........

Either way, I wouldn't have changed much about the way I've done anything and the results just make it that bit more rewarding

I love it!

i've held off being serious about this til the car was 100%- now it has to go.

sadly I actually NEED to sell it now- if there is any interest or you would consider making an offer please let me know. I am reasonable and accommodating and at the end of the day, this is a fantastic car. :(
