i leave the cap off, and yes just pop the rubber back into shape and re-seat it in the cap if needed. Main thing in bleeding brakes is never let it run empty.

Leave it off and also keep it topped up, but not so much that getting in and out of the car will have it spill! LOL!

Also, you may get an idea or two from here.

Cheers and all the best with it.

Nope, shouldn't have the car running. The pedal will feel softer once you start it, if it is too soft just try again and see if you are gettig any air bubbles.

It is hard to say, depends on what you mean by really spongy. The pedal will feel softer after starting the car, this is normal.

it goes softer because the brake booster is working, if it stayed as hard as it does when the motor is stopped it would take a lot of effort to stop the car, as you are pushing the fluid to the calipers yourself, as there in no "boost" as such with the braking system, which helps push the fluid for you....if that makes sense lol

Hey Fordon do you have abs?
If you do there could be air in the abs pump. If in doubt go for a drive and jump on the anchors as hard as possible. If the abs has air in it this should force the air into the lines so you can bleed it out. I used this procedure on the wifes BA and worked fine.
