Hey Guys, I have the chance to get a TE Corty, one owner, 130000 original kms, bugger all rust, 6Cyl 3.3 motor i think, seats and trims are good to excellent but the carpet will need replacing. It has been sitting under a tree for the past year but is in good nick and a good price.
Just after some feed back as to what to do and what you have seen done to turn them into a nice street cruiser. My mates have said everything from keep it original, supercharged or turbo 6 to V8. I am partial to the roar of a V8 but also like the prospect of a supercharged 6. I realize budget will have an effect but i am not thinking about that side of things yet. So let me know your ideas! : :

quickest & easiest mod will be to yank the 3.3 and drop a 4.1 in. Then you can go from there, extractors, carb, manifold, cam etc etc
4.1 in a corty is lots of fun

Hey man, I think that the 3.3 is best turboed, they do rev harder because of the shorter stroke and they have a low standard comp ratio. The biggest hurdle with the cast iron head is induction, the easiest way is a blowthrough setup on that head. Even better would be to get an alloy head and efi off a xf but the standard plenum will hit the bonnet so you have to fab something. Also I found that the number 6 intake runner hits the fan assembly only if you cort has air-con. I have lots of ideas on TE cortinas so if you want more message me.
Cheers have fun |

Ya keep the 3.3. My first car was td 200ci auto $100 and stomp foot light up the tyre easy. As said before rev better. get xtract, exh and a weber or holley. mine didnt have any mods it still had single barrel carb. There are few turbo ones around now so lots of info on how to get it done.

If you are going to change the motor, think of a BA xr6 turbo engine, it would be a stomper in a cortina.
