you need to lube your channels, the rubber goes dry and the glass sticks to it

99 times out of 100, it's nothing to do with the reg, get some silicone spray on the channels and dig out your switches and douse em in carby cleaner, and give me some rep points cos i just saved you a whole lot of effort and expense.

If cleaning doesn't help they do wear out, they are an electric motor driving a wire around plastic pulleys, the wire can break, the pulleys wear out, the wire cuts the pulley in half, the spot weld breaks and the whole things bends, the electric motor can burn out there are many reasons

Basically take door trim off
Remove window from 2 plastic bits clipping it to glass
Use a screwdriver at each end and lever white tabs out while lifting glass up
Window needs to be 3/4 down to get acces for this
Push window UP to top so glass is out the way, maybe tape up as they sometimes fall down and chop your hands
A couple of nuts to undo motor
A couple at top of the centre rail and a couple at the bottom
Unplug the motor
Remove the thing, a bit fiddly but it will come out

Reverse to put back together

If its a front window, i'd pull the glass, really easy to do, never done a back window ute's don't have them, and really lube up the channels before you put it back together.

I have an aftermarket one fitted into my drivers door on my EF - no problems

Apparently there are a few different versions of the aftermarket ones and one of them is a real dodgy one that will fail again :( obviously its the cheapest $$ one - unsure the brand name
