Default Swearing?

Hi,

Just wondering what the go is with swearing on ffau.

This morning I put in the word *****iness and the swearing part of the word was ***** out (and this will show it when I post it). But when I went to edit it (out of curiosity!) I put in b*tchiness... and it left it like that.

So does this site have an instant edit mechanism? I just never noticed it before is all.

And how many ppl do we have on here who are under 18?

Thanks.

Yes it does

what amuses me, as adults, we need to swear to express our emotions.

This is a family forum, it is widely published, and respected and has input by various Ford Employees., Aka Tom Gorman

Someone explain 1 valid reason to swear!

There is no reason to swear, it merely enhances the rest of the phrase (see sig :P)

Christ if people are offended by the official English word to refer to a female dog then they need to re-evaluate their lives, take a pill and get on with it. :

Oops, I probably offended someone by using Jesus' last name in my previous paragraph. Bugger.

Oops, I probably offended someone by using the colloquial term for sodomy in my previous paragraph...

And on it goes... :

That's fair enough.

However on the swearing thing, there are a few words - particularly the F word - that are probably the most flexible words used by us in conversation.

Having said that, swearing isn't big, isn't clever and isn't impressing anyone. So on that note, I'll f*ck off to another thread. :hihi:

HAhahahahahahahhaha Nice one maddest man!

I agree that it all depends on the Context of which you are swearing. If you say it to be funny, or its part of a joke, then its in a friendly context.

Use a swear word to be derogatory, or cutting to someone else and thats when the line is crossed. Unfortunately the auto censor cant tell what context the word is being used in so theres not much that can be done. The odd swear wourd doenst really offend me at all anyway, Ask some of the guys outside the forums how much I swear! Its just the way I talk. Hey, I'm doing construction management so i can be a F*ckin Builder Ya c*nts!

Im Also off to see Kevin Bloody wilson tonight at the lilydale pub (another example of swearing in a good context). No I'm comfy with Swearing.... But some arent, and so the censorship should probably stay.

Simply no need for swearing in day to day conversation, no I dont think its anything prudish, and I doubt too many people are offended by it, but over-use cheapens anything you have to say.

Showing restrait and not swearing day to day, its amazing how much more impact it does have when used. poeple do know your angry.

But the less in print the better i'd say.

Sorry you feel that way.

I certainly wont tollerate it on these forums, nor will the other 4 owners, and I also am glad to say other members wont as well.

i don't mind if swearing is used, as long as its not every 2nd word, and as long as the c words kept to a minimum ;)

I don't know if it's a case of being governed, in most cases I think it's a matter of respect to other readers. IMO, having to use obscene language to get a message across generally identifies a lack of communicative skills. I would also expect that when someone had to use those words in a thread, that thread would quickly head down the toilet.

Perhaps coming from an era that the F'n'C words were considered a lot more taboo than they do these days that the use of F'n'C are unneccessary, and **** you if you don't agree with me. :

I think instead of the swear words being deleted, they should be sensored...

Like "f***", instead of "". Otherwise ppls posts don't make sence, you can't just completely delete a word!!!

Thanks Jeff

Its a simple fact, swearing wont be tollerated, and if your post looks stupid because its been completely deleted by the system, so be it.

Instead of whoring and swearing, how about we make our posts about quality and adult interaction!
