I have a xr sports leather momo wheel with cruist button, but the button for reseting and setting had got silicon or similar in them as the backing the attatches them to the wheel has broken. Now i bought the vehicle like this and how hard is it to replace these switches and have them hooked up and working

the button pods just unscrew from behind the wheel, if you get some new buttons you can do a straight swap. Bayford Spares have a set of the buttons on Ebay now.

Its very easy. Exactly as b2tf described. Hardest part would probably be getting the airbag off, which requires a special Torx bit.

I know how to get the airbag off and remove/install the switch and according to ford the steering wheels is an au3 version but the switches are the same as au2. what is making all this harder to work out it the steering wheel is fitted to a 1997 el futura

so get some switches from an EF/EL,
then fit them up the same as the old ones EF - AU steering wheels interchange EF - AU airbags interchange EF/EL have cruise on/cruise off on the left pod, then res/+/- on the right pod where AU switches have radio seek/vol +/- on the left pod and cruise res/+/- on the right pod |

The think is the AU has slightly different switches ... andf the Cruise On/Off is actually on the indicator stalk as well. ... so getting the buttons to work from the E-series might be a tad diffcult.
