Default 95 Mondeo Light Problem

A mate of mine has a 95 GLX Mondeo and the tail lights and parker lights have stopped working. We pulled out the head light switch assembly and one of the wires from the main lume connecting into assembly is blackened and shows signs of heat. No fuses have gone.

1st, has anyone had the above problem and is the fix replacing the assembly?

2nd, Does anyone know where one can actually buy parts for a Mondeo of this vintage?
