Question Reading Transmission Temp

Anyone know how I can get the transmission temp live data reading?

I've tried numerous apps and PIDs. Anyone have a PID I could try or should I just get Ford IDS? Assuming IDS will actually tell me, can anyone confirm?

Even expensive scan tools that I can get locally don't support my car for some reason.

Hello,
Why not go old school and run a gauge, inexpensive, easy to fit, analogue ( which I think are cool ) or digital.
Does everything have to be techno/chip/sensor nowadays!

Cheers Billy.

I bought one of these, which I used to check the powershift temp before I serviced it..

Hello,
Mmmm, and where do you aim it?..at the outer casing of the box or down the tranny dipstick hole!

But if your are happy with it and it suits your purpose then that's good, well done.

Billy.

It is but all the apps show that it is an option to read it but no data shows. I've decided to just buy IDS since I can use it on the other Fords too.

Glad the IDS works fine--curious to see the max temp you get as iv'e had it climb to 87c on hot summer days, also when i left the trans oil change for the 60,000km got juddering when hot ,done the last change at 105,000(45,000km) and was sweet as through the hot 40c days. The heat exchanger is pretty small that runs off the radiator mind you!

Apparently it was serviced at 31k, I’m going to be doing it at 60k. Too soon or never too soon?

When you say 'serviced' did that include the powershift fluid change also-as ford normally schedules it for 60,000km which i feel is too long -every 45,000km seems safer(especially in my case with more torque hitting the clutches from the ecu remap) though if done at 31,000km then safe to wait till about 75,000km -- but unfortunetly the fluid is not cheap!!

It had the 60k service done at 31k. Haha, I already have all the fluids and parts ready to go.

That's if the dealer did actually service it at 31k, that's all I'm worried about since I've bought this car second hand. They previous owner was charged for it so I assume it was done but I've caught at least one place charging for work they didn't perform.

If the service was performed by one of the well known Ford dealerships it should be genuine as they have a reputation to try to maintain and would be required to warranty the transmission if it failed!

Pay a visit to that dealership if possible to verify the service record of work done?---but strange why the previous owner would spend the extra $600 or so for a service not required till 60,000km?

I have had the car serviced at KnoxFord,Ferntree gully for the last 5 years(115,000km)and have found them to be fairly professional and though--after 2 complaints finally replaced a faulty thermostat.

But if in doubt replace it i suppose.
