Default Government rejects Milo Yiannopoulos Visa - then backflips?

I thought this was interesting - Government blocked Milo Yiannopoulos from entering the country by denying his visa on character grounds due to the protests that occured in 2017, then Victoria Police tries to pin a $50K bill on him because of the cost of Victoria Police at the protests.

Quote:
In their letter to Yiannopoulos, the department said protests at his 2017 Melbourne event “involved violence” and injured five police officers.

“Victoria Police issued Mr Yiannopoulos with a bill of $50,000 for the cost of policing his event in Melbourne,” it said. “Mr Yiannopoulos was reported in July 2018 to have not paid the Victoria Police bill.
Why he is responsible for the bill when it was the protesters who decided to cause mayhem is anyones guess but anyway.

https://www.theguardian.com/australi...id-police-bill

Then the Government has back flipped and appears to have granted his visa over some public outrage?

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/fede...09-p512xc.html

While I don't agree with everything Milo Yiannopoulos says, I don't appreciate the Government telling me who I can or can't listen to by trying to reject people under crappy reasons like 'the character test' then using the protests as an excuse, the issue isn't Milo, the issue is the protesters themselves.

An interesting side note about that venue, it hosted Milo Yiannopoulos for his Melbourne tour, the protesters caused issues outside of it, then last Friday night three people were shot and one murdered there, seems to be having a rough run lol.

This comedian covers it fairly decently:

Violent protests, from the hard left, who tout tolerance and acceptance. Sounds typical.
What are they protesting, his anti Islam stance?
Defending a political ideology disguised as a religion that would be the first to consume these degenerate delusional leftists if it has the chance.
Can their card be flipped by labelling them homophobic because they aren't agreeing with a homo on a legitimate concern he has... Their heads would be spinning in which of their pet ideologies to back in this case (homosexuals v Islam).
Silence any opposition because their own views will not hold up to scrutiny and they are incapable of debate.
The only consistent trait of a SJW leftist is hypocrisy.

The serious issue is the reason he was being rejected was because of the issues the protesters caused - if you don't like what someone says you just have to go on a riot on a protest, punch up with police and then Victoria Police will attempt to recover costs from the speaker/group you were protesting, how is that even fair?

Then because you refuse to pay those costs unfairly incurred through no fault of your own - the Government rejects your visa based on 'inciting violence' or the unpaid invoice?

The only people inciting violence are the protesters - this is setting a dangerous precedent that goes against the fundamentals of our democracy.

The funny part about Milo is he is a gay Jew who is married to an African American man - you can't box him into a particular group.

Melbourne has a serious issue with violent counter protestors - you'll have X, Y Z group in the CBD or surrounding areas on a protest, then a huge group of counter protestors turn up trying to stop the original group of protestors by inciting violence, they now require huge police presence.

A decision from another illogical, out of touch, parasitic Government trougher?
Why aren't hip hop artists also being turned around for failing their 'character tests' due to the extreme mysoginistic and violent lyrics... I see rapper Necro is due to tour this year. He was also down this way in 2015 without one word from feminists or mainstream media.
Yiannopolous throws a spanner in the works and exposes the fraud of identity politics that the left subscribe to.

We've got a god damn Marxism conference on here in Melbourne soon

https://marxismconference.org/

Why are the foreign speakers allowed in our country? Its a ridiculous ideology.

Look I don't particularly care that we've got Communists/Marxists on a speaking tour - go for your life, have fun, protest, do what ever, the issue I have is only one one side is being targeted by the authorities.

I laughed at the far-left when Milo first started to gain popularity (or hate from their side) and they were labelling him all kinds of names (that's what the Left do best). He was called a Homophobic and a racist.....

He's gay and at the time was dating a black guy, LMAO.

They pulled the same trick with Lauren Southern when she came to Australia also, its a joke, if you don't like someones opinion all you have to do is start trouble with a protest, the police invoice the person you don't like acting like some private security company, then the Government refuses their visa when they try come back into the country, this is absolutely absurd.

The whole Police tactic of charging for Police attendance to private events due to the vocal and violent opposition of the event and speakers is a dangerous precedent. It tells violent mobs all they have to do is show up and cause trouble and their target will be financially penalised, despite the person who is the target not breaking any laws. So he is right to not pay that bill.

You can bet when they Unions organise a march through the city that requires Police management, they don't get a bill. Milo's event was contained inside a venue for paying guests. The trouble was outside.

Lefties love diversity, unless it's diversity of opinion.

I don't care for Milo much. He is has some good idea and he has some horrible ideas. Either way just let him speak.

As for the lefties who hate him, since they know everything they should have no issue formulating a well thought out and articulate rebuttable to everything he says....... or they could yell and scream and blow air horns when he speaks like they normally do.

What they do is they want to remove opinion and close down debate that they don't agree with - classic lefty tactics and the government and police are falling for it hook, line and sucker.

Western civilisation is in decline because of socialists inside our own society and the best part about it is the new culture that eventually takes over would be super conservative and these useful idiots are always the first who are up against the wall.

They claim they're for diversity but they're all for grouping everyone into individual circles - classic identity politics.

This sort of stuff is just getting out of hand. The noisey left's opinions are being rammed down everyone's throat's and if you don't agree with them you are a racist, bigot, homophobe or whatever label they want to use against you because they can't actually defend an entirely appropriate rebuttal.

The world is going crazy with the garbage. The sooner the world see's the hypocrisy of these left wing nutters the better. Problem is too many people see the headlines and believe this garbage without seeing the other side.

Apparently married to a black guy now.

Actually, some of his quotes regarding his... um 'tastes' in men are

He said on the radio this morning that he had never been presented with a $50k bill to pay. I guess if such a bill existed it would have been presented by now for all to see.

I don't mind the guy. We need people like him to keep the (kids of the unmarried) honest. He doesn't like how men are being treated and has the knowledge and articulation to put his point across well.

But he does have a potty mouth - sort of like Alan Jones and Gordon Ramsay's love child.
