Well i was sitting at the bus stop this arvo, and this Coupe rocks up at the lights, im like what the, Yes, a red AU Falcon XR Coupe, looked hot, pictures dont do it justice. Was a young bloke driving it, which surprised me. Didnt sound anything spectacular though, maybe i wasnt paying attention to the exaust tone i dont know. Well anyway snapped up some pics on my new phone, didnt think that when you zoom it screwed up the quality and sizing. My bad, lol, well there acceptable. Oh and had NSW plates i believe.

It looks nothing like the Arrow coupe. That had Mercedes headlights and a unique front nose cone. That is "merely" a coupe-conversion. It may or may not have started its life as an XR6 - I'd say probably not by the miss-matching colour (though that may be a Group A cone rather than standard XR cone). I think the price was about $17,000 you can take any EA-BF Falcon/Fairlane donor car to a coachbuilder in Geelong (I think) that make them into coupes. I suppose any coachbuilder could do it; looks wild, and not that dear really!
If someone knows what they're talking about feel free to correct the place and price of the coachbuilders who do plenty of work for Ford (though not actually affiliated). I must say, whilst it would predominantly blend into the traffic, once noticed it certainly is a very nice looking machine! |

Not a big fan of these things
on that coupe the standard rear spoiler doesn't work for it, needs a bi plane or a custom one, maybe even a TE 50 S3 wing Well spotted though

it looks a bit awkward to me, the bottom window line doesn't match/is a different angle to, that groove in the door line.
that $17000 spent on the coupe conversion would have been better spent giving the car some berries i think. |

I like it too. Only thing I can really pick that looks unnatural on it is the ridge running down the body looking a bit funny against that windowline. Also, I think the spoiler could be played with a little. Either a more angular one (ie ends with hard angled joints instead of a curve) or no spoiler look. Other than that, in the words of Wayne and Garth, Schwing!

If you take the rear spoiler off , in the first picture , it has a very similar lines as the previous model Merc CLK. |

Terrible window line, boot is too long and the wheels don't help anything. That really doesn't flow nicely!

I remember seeing an AU falc coupe four years ago. When I left for work in the morning, I saw this car, and another standard AU following it. Just by chance, I would have to give way to these two cars everymorning for 3 days straight. On the fourth day, I sat in my driveway with a camera, but never saw them again. I live in Lovely Banks, (outskirts of Geelong), so I only assumed they were taking the backroads to the Ford testing ground in Lara.
The coupe was all covered up, but you could quite clearly see the AU body.

Definently don't like the rear window... I dunno, kinda cool.. But the whole rear seems too stretched for me. Don't like the rims either..
Good spot though. |

that is not an arrow coupe... i think it was still done by hillier... same as the blue ba 2 door, they were both in street machine a while ago... does look like a clk though doesnt it... they should do a bf 2 door, or a te50 version of that... someone should make a gt coupe out of it... if i had the money for a bf gt, plus the 20 odd grand for the conversion, it would be getting done right now... i wish...

needs 6-12" taken out of the length of the boot... Not that that would be an easy thing to do!
I like it, but it's not ideal. |
