FPR / FPV whats the difference

I have a 98 AU XR6. The silver flash along the sides has the FPR logo instead of the FPV. It is also a Tickford model 4.0 VCT. Why does my car have FPR and not FPV?

btw, FPV did not exist around the AU era. Tickford became FPV.

fpr = ford performance racing, as in the v8 supertaxi team

fpv = ford performance vehicles as in the cars you can buy that have almost nothing in common with said supertaxi.

and as said above, both have even less to do with an au.

He is right to say some one stickered the car.

But.

To say Tickford became FPV is so wrong it's not funny. (Though Ford Tickford Racing was sold to Prodrive and became Ford Performance Racing, eternal also rans!)


Reality is that Ford used tuning arm Tickford up until the AU. Tickford also did most of the styling cues for the BA XR and GT range before Ford switched direction and went with FPV, a new company from Prodrive.

I dont think its just a sticker as it matches the pinstriping on the skirts etc and goes right around the car from front right, around the rear and back to the front left. Looks like a factory job to me. Will try and post a photo

Prodrive bought out Tickford in 2001, then changed the Tickford branding in Australia to FPV.

Also, Im pretty sure Glenn Seton Racing was bought out by Prodrive and became FPR.

if your 1998 AU has a FPR kit from factory you should also look for a factory installed flux-capacitor kit cos that's some marty mcfly stuff right there

I can show you an FPV with a Ticky badge (or two) but you will not find a Ticky with FPV on it anywhere. /story

I managed to put a photo on my profile, not sure if you can see it. It might be just a sticker, not sure. Its not that I am not happy with the answers, there are just some conflicting ones. As for the flux capacitor I couldnt find it in the option codes, kidding of course. Regardless I like the sticker and it makes my XR just that little bit different.

Isnt it just a Vinyl? Fairly sure you can get them aftermarket, like the XR's going around with GT stripes......

There is nothing conflicting about it, you have a '99 AU XR6,
They did not have a sticker/stripe option from factory,
It is not a FPR or FPV vehicle.
It is however a Tickford vehicle which is/was the performance arm of Ford at the time, which is now known as FPV, comprehendo........
