Hi,
Took my MC Mondeo into a large Tyre retailer today to have my tyres rotated and balanced. As a result the following damage was done to my wheel nuts on the drivers front and rear wheels. While they have agreed to replace the wheel nuts, can you just buy the cover/collar only or do you have to buy the whole unit. Thanks rxj. 2E775125-3D44-49CC-9293-5A30903D8826.jpg 7E638A2D-3B8F-49C3-A338-2C286F47F1D0.jpg

They really went to town on those nuts didn't they!!!
They are just nuts, not a bolt such as VW's. I would request Genuine Ford Nuts and would also look to change your lock nut. Get yourself a set of Genuine Ford Lock Nuts...

Thanks.
No lock nuts on this car, that nut is missing the hex cover after there handy work today. It should look like the other four. Yes I have requested Ford OEM nuts and not just the covers. Cheers, rxj

I took my MD Titanium Mondeo in for new tyres last week and spent ages trying to find the wheel nut for them... it wasn't in the foam insert with the spare tyre, I pulled it all out - searched glove box - nothing! Only then did I realise that MD Titanium Mondeo doesn't haven't locking wheel nuts!

What you need them to get if the OE wheel nuts with stainless caps. Part number 8V41 1K024 AC and around $7 each. The caps are not sold separately.
FYI The lock nuts are 6G92 1A043 BB and around $80 for the kit. |

I will not worry about the lock nuts as I’m planning to sell the car soon. It’s time for an upgrade. It has been a great car which I purchased new back in late 2011. Cheers, rxj

Wouldn't be the first time it's happened, and it's far from the last too. I reckon the number of people who have made that mistake would number in the thousands. I know a handful of Titanium owners, and about half of them have done it as well (generally those who use a socket set & breaker bar, rather than the factory brace).

Its always an issue doesnt matter if they rattle gunned the nuts or used a breaker bar. In the 7 zetecs, 3 lx's and the xr5 i have owned they have all had at least 4 caps come off which then means you need a 18mm socket to get the nut off
