Default 'J Bro' a gonner from leadership

Well John Brogdan (Liberal party leader for non NSW people) quit after he called Carr's wife a mail order bride and apparently tried to chat up a couple of Journalists on a heavy night out in Sydney a few days ago.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...167578387.html

Bit of a media beat up, but that's politics and journalism for you.

Should be interesting to see what comes of this. New premier, now it looks like we'll have a new opposition leader too.

I think Carr left a lot to be answered for - like our brand new, $3.53 each way, 2.1km tunnel under the city, and changing city streets to either a. cause further congestion or b. force you to use the tunnel, and our new train timetable in next week should provide hours of entertainment for city commuters.

Tunnel:http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...167585467.html

Rail: http://smh.com.au/articles/2005/08/2...563033695.html

Brogdon commits slander and Car commits sodomy! A poor show all round.

All the loopy lefties will be baying in the streets.

As for voting decisions.

Which team will allow me to wash my car witha hose and will rectify the neglect of the water infrastructure.

Which team will commit to expansion of power generation capacity in line with the increased community demand.

Which team will have NSW public transport running to a level of service and cleanliness so easilly achied for an olympic games.

Which team will commit to road infrastructure funding and utilise funds taken from the motorist soley on roads.

Which team will put education and health spending ahead of spin doctors an uneeded consultants reports and EIS's to confirm the bleeding obvious.

Pretty poor form by one J. Brogdan but these actions dont affect my hip pocket. Its a bit rich for an ex premier who decides to up and leave all his elected resposibilities whilst still taking the money, to take the moral high ground on any subject.

But this being a political thread, it probably shouldn't exist here at all !

You are assuming that everyone drives a class 2 vehicle and has an e-Tag.

Try a vehicle pass for a class 4 vehicle.

$3-30 Setup fee (one off).
$7-05 Toll each way
$1-60 Administration Fee per trip.

So if you do one return trip per day for one week, it will cost you $124-40.

F***ing Rip off.

BTW: The Cross City tunnel isn't owned or operated by the RTA or any other Government authority for that matter. It is totally private. (well, for the next 30 years anyway)

The RTA are the ones responsible for traffic changes above ground, so don't go abusing the poor Cross City Motorways staff for that.

Red I don't disagree with what you've said ..but where do you start and who loses funding to fund the other???

NSW Education or some extra tatt for an Olympic Games? I'd have thought that was a given. Obviously not.

Targets for reduction: Consultancies, EIS, State govt spending on National and international issue.

Put just a third of those budgets into Roads Health and Education and the transformation would be incredible.

Nuff said for politics...

Damn, dissapointing effort. Being able to drink at least that much without disgracing yourself should be a requirement for any Aussie politician, or any Aussie citizen in general actually.

Red; point taken and as much as I wish it was that simple unfortunately its not. I think perhaps there is a clouding of state and federal responsibilities throughout the system and as much as I would like to discuss this I don't think this is the place given time and the ott responses it would attract.

Let me just say I think that maybe we have a similar outlook.

I got up this morning to find out from the news that Broggers tried to kill himself last night.

He was apparently found by police at his Sydney electoral office unconscious. He'd gotten pished, took some pills and tried to slash his wrists.

I feel so bad for him. Why try and end your life over something like this? :( Poor bloke.

I am not sure how to view this; trying to take your own life is one of the most selfish things you can do. No consideration regarding the impact of it on his loved ones, namely his wife and his children - though i do notice quite a pattern here.. drinking then doing incredibly stupid things, perhaps rehab is a better alternative. I am not sure if I am too harsh or not, but my $0.02.

Yes I agree that suicide is selfish (flame me if you will). Everyone has a choice in how they feel and how they choose to react to what people say and do. He has the power to feel sorry for himself and choose to not keep living, or he has the power to say life is short, I stuffed up, let's get back to business.

It's sad that he tried to choose option 1. Perhaps he will learn from this. Also suicide attempts are a call for help and attention (the "poor me, look at me and how I am suffering, pay attention!" syndrome).

Bit of a mess really. I just felt bad that he thinks so little of himself, his life and his family.

Firstly I feel sorry for his family. Secondly - obviously this guy had quite a few serious issues and I 'm just glad someone like that never got to be put in charge of NSW.

Suicide is a sad thing to see.
He does need some help

BUT

Yet he did bring it on himself......
If he chose not to drink as much as he did, and was a little more lucid who knows.....

As harsh as this is, we saw the true colours of a politician, a rare thing.....

He has no one to blame but himself.....

Perhaps some help and some serious addressing of his decisions and his life, will see him come back on track.

Just reading on The Age website and apparently there is a whole heap of women now coming forward claiming he sexually harressed them at one time or another. Probably most are untrue but I guess now the full extent of the story is going to emerge.
