Just out of curiosity. How many convertible Capri owners are on this site? Does this car suck or are we a rare beast, that owns these cars?

Cmon!!!!! A 13psi turbo Capri isn't really a girls car is it??? I do admit that my mates at work do give me a hard time saying "does that come in a mans car?" BUT. I do like them AND they go pretty hard for a 4 banger AND handle really good. Let's nor forget the 3PSI turbo, made a v8 commondore think twice the other day, should have seen the look On his face as I kept up with him to ummmmmm, well pretty fast ( I don't condone street racing unless it shows up a Holden)

I do not own one either, but quite like them, have thought about buying one at one stage, just never seemed to happen:con
I would have thought there would be a few owners on here... |

The turbo is such a fun car especially when you up the boost!!! I am like everyone here, I want a 1972 v6 gt Capri but just can't afford one. Since these ones came out when I was 16, I thought it would be great to get one especially since I only paid $1000 for a mint turbo!!!!

$1000 for a mint turbo is a good buy.
In my club, we have a female with 3 conv Capris (SA auto, Clubsprint?, XR2) Another guy had four at last count Another guy has 2 pending 3 shortly. And I'm told the Turbos really do move..... |

But you really should start a build thread with it.

Thanks vibe. I wasn't having a shot at you mate. I won't be doing enough to it to start a build thread. It was mint when I got it, all I'm doing is up the boost, bigger exhaust, k n air filter and lower it oh yeah bigger stereo ( all my cars get this ). No build thread warranted I think.

We have one, it's wifey's car. It's showing its age and is a bit beat up, but yes, the little basterd can get up and boogie when you want it to. Would make a ripper little club circuit racer.
Considering motoring journos bagged the crap out of it when it was new, it's Laser roots have held it in good stead over the years and has nowhere near the level of parts falling off and things going wrong as other locally made cars of the same year/era. We will probably start thinking of selling it soon.

Have you ever driven a fast car (V8 fords and commos don't rate)? FWD, primitive engine, soggy chassis, overweight and even with the turbo they are under powered. 110kw for 1350kg. My Cortina track car has 210kw and 910kg. Do the math. A standard Suzuki swift would give you a hammering. A friend has an immaculate XR Turbo which I've done some work on for him and it's a shirt box extraordinaire. Bits breaking, and bad chassis. He has an '08 Focus convertible (the Pinninfarina one) as well and it's not much better. Get a TX3 if you must. Last edited by Brycevr; 30-05-2011 at 11:26 PM. |

V8 fords and commondores don't rate as fast cars??!! I think some people on here would beg to differ. Does a 210 mph Trans Am rate as a fast car or a 10 second hg brougham rate, what about a 500rwkw supra? No I haven't driven a top fuel car but I'm not saying my Capri is a giant killer, it's just s fun toy to drive while I build my fairlane.

Nah the fairlane is getting a 500HP 347 stroker motor. The Capri would beat a standard v8, but it sure is fun.

Ahh convertible Capri's. The Clubsprints looked pretty cool i think.
I do take offence when I tell people I have a capri and they say "ahh the convertible? Me "Do I look like a gay hairdresser?" But whatever your into I guess. Atleast its not a holden. |
