Top Gear UK show’s anonymous racing driver, The Stig joins Gran Turismo
Sony’s famous Gran Turismo console game adds the world’s most famous anonymous racing driver to its roster, as well as the Top Gear track.

Some say he’s Top Gear’s tame racing driver, and that his real name is Ben Collins. All we know is he’ll be in the new Gran Turismo 5 computer game due in November.

The popular Top Gear UK show’s anonymous racing driver, renowned for his all-white racing suit and helmet, appears in a trailer for the long-awaited next instalment to the Gran Turismo driving simulator series.

If you’ve ever watched the show and wondered what it would be like to race around the test track, then wonder no more.

The maker of the game, Polyphony, has also confirmed Top Gear’s famous airfield circuit will be featured in the latest version of the game.

The new trailer says the game will go on sale November 2, more than five years since the last instalment, Gran Turismo 4, hit the market.

The developers have spent more than $60 million creating the game; repeatedly pushing the release date back.

There are more than 950 cars featured in the game and it took the designers six months to reproduce the digital version of each vehicle. But Top Gear isn’t the only new addition for the new version.

For the first time the game will feature Formula One cars, NASCAR and cars from Ferrari. Night races and realistic car damage have also been added.

Red Bull Formula One star Sebastian Vettel also makes an appearance in the trailer, along with the team’s much heralded designer, Adrian Newey.

The game developers visited the team’s UK factory to accurately re-create the F1 racing cars.

Sounds good.. The main reason i baught a ps3 was for this game. Any body know if they will have more of a selection of Aussie built cars? maybe some muscle?

Any Australian Tracks?

I have Forza 3 on my 360. Weirdly it has V8 supercars but none of the tracks they race on. They also don't have any Falcon models other then the Supercar, and the only non Supercar Commodore is the Pontiac Badged G8.

Csv8 i think that is a list of every car ever made haha it says 10,000 cars.. Sounds a bit rich but if it is the case it will be tops!

They have now included the HSV W427 in Forza.

Well, having just spent however much on buying the game a few weeks ago, i'm hardly going to go spend more right now. Can probably do an engine conversion on the G8 with the LS7 if you wanted a W427 anyway. I'm guessing the car is the same in game terms, just with some visual modifications.

It wouldn't have been to difficult to add it in. As you said, just some visual mods.

I agree. As much as I want to believe it, if there is an XF S-Pak in GT5 I'll go heave. How cool would that be though? I'd get to finish my XF project that was stolen and never recovered in 2000!

Also, if in the unlikely event, this list is right, there are about 20 different Humvees on there. No wonder this game is so late!

I have had this game on pre-order for 4 years, and after seeing the 3D announcement at E3 im looking forward to this game even more! With all the Sony 3D titles named ( Killzone 3, GT5, Mortal Kombat, Crysis 2 ) im glad my new 3D TV will get utilized to its potential!
