As of about a month ago there was still one running (evaluating?) around Bundy, it's been in the area for sometime now.

I don't think its in their job description to be patriotic to the car industry. What are they meant to do now that we don't have an industry? Ride Malvern Stars?
They've been using Toyota's, Mazda's, Subaru's and many other brands for years now, this is no different.

One thing all public servants, police included know. If someone resorts to the "I pay the bills" routine, they've got nothing...
Dumb comment, you got called on it, own the mistake.

What's that got to do paying for a imported Opel?
Holden is no more Australian than ford or Toyota.
When there was a Australian manufacturing industry that once mattered, up to 2 years ago in Victoria, the state government cars of choice were Camry, commodore and falcon as they had a buy Australian policy re vehicles first and only went to other vehicles if the said department could prove that another vehicle was required for service, vic pol for example used falcons, commodores and territories as marked and unmarked vehicles, even the divvy vans were converted commodore utes.

Yes- the government has no money of itself- they are in effect trustees holding taxpayers money on trust, to use such money for the benefit of the community.

Everyone who pays tax is entitled to be concerned that the tax money held on trust by the government is spent wisely.

I am a cynic and do not believe that the government spends it wisely- so follow the Kerrie Packer dictum on individual tax obligations....

How is a buying a Commodore built by PSA for General Motors any wiser use of Tax Payers money than buying another brand of imported car?

What model ZB Commodore would be suitable for Pursuit duties?

So a car made by the Peugeot/Citroen group in Europe and sold by GMH (a 100% American company, you know GM?) is more Australian than a car made and sold by a Korean company?

I've got some bad news for you, Sunshine. There is no "Australian" car company. They are all 100% foreign owned and made

Stingers look magnificent and go ridiculously quick, plus Kia builds some good vehicles

good choice all in all I reckon

Not really. What this demonstrates is that some people still believe Holden is Australian and that the government should spend tax payers dollars on cars wearing Holden badges, not buy Kia Stingers.

So do the people employed in the police force, they pay tax too.

Take your police hate elsewhere.

I don't think that Koreans are stupid enough to pay us to make steel, when they could make it far more efficiently themselves.

I get what you mean, but they probably buy our coal & iron ore & make their own.

Interestingly, just went to local shop and there was a Police Hyundai 3.8 Genesis parked also with all the badging and lights.

Maybe they will be for general duties but it did have all the usual add ons for traffic patrol.

I think our points been made re the Opel, the stinger on the other hand Tbh I don't mind, I would not pay 60 grand for one sorry but I sat in one and did not mind it tbh, so I guess as the dust settles it's BMW, Chrysler and Kia that are picking up the highway patrol duties, what states are left to decide?

Way off topic, but the iron ore should be made into steel here, and then sold. F...ing shi..s me. Back on topic.
Stinger would be a good choice, out of what’s available now.
