Maybe those 2000 got to their first service and the Chinese government realised what they were getting into with ownership and Dealing with Holden service, decided to cut their losses...

Holden would have been paid out by the Chinese government if they had built all the cars and the Chinese dicded not to take delivery.

If it is true, I can't wait for the Holden PR and Marketing team to get a hold of this one... "Don't be the last in your street to own a special 'limited edition' black V6 Statesman celebrating Australia-China relations etc etc" then in size 1 font at the botton of the screen, "All vehicles are left hand drive and have instrumentation in both English and Mandarin"

If it's true, it won't be a problem for Holden. They will flog them off to the Middle East where Ford flogs all their V6 Mustangs. They will already be badged as Buicks so they wouldn't even have to bother with that.

Even then, the Chinese would have paid out the order anyway.

Not sure on what they are badged, i thought he said they are badged as Chevy's. Only problem is the middle east only wants V8's an these are all V6's.
I'm pretty sure they haven't been paid for.

I've spent alot of time in various countries around the Middle East, trust me, there is more V6 cars getting around there than V8s. That's why I don't think they would have a great deal of trouble off loading them especially in the UAE and Kuwait.

Isn't it a Buick Royuam. They have 2.8 litre V6's, good luck trying to flog them off to other countries with a small engine in a huge body.

It would be very unlikely that Holden have 8000 Statesmens sitting there waiting to go, as they would build them in progressive amounts then ship them, so they wouldnt build the entire order in a single period, therefore I find this hard to believe.... 800 maybe, but not 8000.

LOL no worries,

Everybody has this idea of rich oil Sheiks driving whopping big V8s and to some extant that is the case. The sad thing is, the Toyota Camry is one of the most popular cars sold there. It's quite an eye opener to see these things driven flat out on the freeways passing Porches and the like.

There's a photo of my mate in Iraq from last year, VR Commo in the background. Looks a little scary having armed troops and aussie cars in the same photo!

Exactly. 8000 is a little less than a month's worth of Commos, there's no way they would of pumped these out.

Yes and where would they park them? Id hate to try and work out how much room you would need to park 8000 luxury barges and keep records on them along with keys. Im not disputing it, just finding it hard to beleive that a company would be so stupid.

Funeral directors cars? Or they may just give them to the police. If red monaro's are ok for Queensland then black sedans for Vic should be ok.

I have actually, it would be a pain having it driving towards you in bright sunlight. It's not made of silver but has had the paint removed and highly polished.

This is it here

might have to get on to my mate about this and see whats going on. Everyday I drive past Holdens factory there are more and more cars sitting in the grounds. Even where the employees used to park is now filled with new cars. At outer harbour where mitsubishi ship their cars is a whole load of statemans with buick and chevy badges which i noticed when i was fishing right next door which i hadnt seen before. I know Holdens are offering very large discounts on new cars too employees. More discount than usual.

For Holden to make 8000 Statesmans would take years.

Can someone take a pick at the holden yard?

Where is this yard?
