TOP Gear presenter James May could face a run-in with the law when he arrives in Australia next year.
May has revealed he defied his Captain Slow nickname to cop a speeding fine in Victoria on a previous trip. "I'm not sure I've paid it," he said. "I think maybe I did eventually, but I sent it from England. I hope the slate can be wiped clean and it can be put behind us." May will travel to Australia with co-host Jeremy Clarkson for the return of the Top Gear Live stage show in February. He was not part of the first tour this year, but had visited previously to write travel stories. "We weren't going very fast, but we went too fast through some roadworks," he said of his speeding fine. May, 46, gave his support to the Australian TV version of Top Gear. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. "I know British Top Gear is a bit of a global phenomenon, but it ought to be possible to make a very entertaining Australian Top Gear," he said. "The sorts of things I can imagine bother the Australian motorist or Australians in general are not the same things as us. "And of course we've got quite a few in-jokes in British Top Gear."
