ye be need what is called a Crossover cable, these can be bought very cheaply just about anywhere, connect the two together set up your ip's within the same range, set the same workgroup and you should be able to start sharing.

Same workgroup ! Same Subnet ! Different IP! If you have XP2 service pack 2 you'll have to setup the firewall. Do a few more checks before racing back to DSE and abusing the goose with pimples. DSE usually have red end covers on their overpriced crossover cables. |

If you had 1Gbit cards, most of them support MDI/MDX connections which means that you could use a patch cable. But otherwise 100Mbit you will need a crossover.

Load netstumbler and it may give you a clue... Read pages of docs, and where possible use the same brand of equipment. |

the two can not find each other (or my software is not set up right for them to connect to each other)
it's not interference, does one have to be set up as a server and one a client? if so how?

I found it was easiest to use the microsoft configuration utility for wireless networks. Go to "Network Connections" under "Control Panel" and there should be an icon saying "Wireless Network Connection" with a red X in it if it is not connecting. Double click on it, and see if you can connect to any of the networks listed in the dialog box. Otherwise click "Advanced..." and on the "Wireless Networks" tab click the "Add..." button to add information about your network. See if you can configure both systems to be the same and see if that helps. Make sure you use "Ad Hoc" for system to system communication if you don't have a Wireless Access Point.

I've found if it's only two, use a direct network cable and a bit of changing of ya settings and bingo! Just make sure you turn your firewall off when networking then back on before you go on the net
