I went to buy a clutch the other day as im converting my eb series 2 to a manaul. the guy told me there is to types of clutches 1 for the ea and eb series 1 and another for the eb series 2. i am unsure which one to get as the gearbox is a t5 out of an ea.

They are different in the way they mount to the flywheel. EA is 3 bolt, Eb is 6 bolt. Have you got the flywheel yet?
I would get the EB one, and if it turns out you have the old flywheel swap it for a new one.

yeah, the clutch mountings are not as good though. You can get the EA flywheel modified to suite the EB-> clutchs, but if you have the choice get the EB onwards clutch and flywheel.

If you can get the EB2 flywheel, it's a better clutch.

the 3.9 clutch is also slightly smaller, 241mm as apposed to 4.0 clutch 254mm. I'd go 4.0 clutch or if you allready have a 3.9 flywheel get a Heavy duty 3.9 clutch with a 6 bolt presure plate and get 3 extra holes drille in the flywheel, make sure you get it machined too and use new presure plate bolts. You should get a new thust bearing with your clutch too.

i've got a six bolt clutch on a 3.9 flywheel... had a machining place bolt the clutch to the flywheel and tap new holes for the other 3 when i got it machined... works ok so far.

so yous reckon i should just get a 4.0 flywheel. how much am i looking at for one. and is that all i will have to do just bolt it up and everything else should be right?

I dunno how much, but it wouldnt be much. I got a couple spare in the shed but Im guessing you dont live in Adelaide. It will bolt up fine - the only difference is a couple of extra bits for mounting the clutch.

I paid $30 for a second hand EA flywheels, so I can't imagine a 4.0 one would be much more than that.

when u buy a clutch kit
it comes with what u need all it is is a new clutch driven plate and a pressure plate/clutch mounting it comes in the kit all you need is to buy a manual flywheel. and a clutch kit, and if you want a thrust bearing. i am doing the same thing atm =) |

my new clutch came with a new thrust bearing. You can use the bolts off your flexplate for the flywheel. You'll need 6 high tension bolts for the presure plate too.
You'll also need a spigot bearing, which taps into the crankshaft. |
