Hi All
I have a focus sport 2014 and the sales person told me to use 91 but in the manual it says to use premium 98. so what should I be using or does it not matter |

My old auto LV used to ping in 3rd gear with 91. 95 was fine, 98 even better. It probably depends on whether you intend to keep it a long time and/or get the most responsiveness out of the engine.

the extra costs of 98 fuels makes the cost per 100klm significantly dearer, Thats the reason I steer clear of the VW trubo petrol models they need 98 octance

Quoting from the Owner's manual of my LW Focus MkII; Page 106, bottom left corner:
"The engine in your Focus has been optimised for operation on premium unleaded fuel (95 RON or higher). For all petrol variants it is also safe to operate the engine on standard unleaded fuel (91 RON minimum), however if you choose to do so, you may notice some minor loss of performance, economy and increased engine noise." Personally, I've gone away from 91 because there was perceptible difference with premium fuel. Could be a psychological thing, but I like to pamper my car. |
