91 is fine. It would say premium only or minimum 95 if it needed it.
There's only a couple of fords that spec premium as a minimum. Focus isn't one of them. Even the ST uses 91.

My Mark 1 Trend 2.0 will officially run on any of these but 95 was the recommended RON when I bought and that's what I have been using.

My old auto LV used to ping in 3rd gear with 91. 95 was fine, 98 even better. It probably depends on whether you intend to keep it a long time and/or get the most responsiveness out of the engine.

the extra costs of 98 fuels makes the cost per 100klm significantly dearer, Thats the reason I steer clear of the VW trubo petrol models they need 98 octance

i have only ever used 91 in my 2.0l trend. unless your car needs 98 to avoid detonation, i don't think the 98 stuff is worth the difference.

Quoting from the Owner's manual of my LW Focus MkII; Page 106, bottom left corner:
"The engine in your Focus has been optimised for operation on premium unleaded fuel (95 RON or higher). For all petrol variants it is also safe to operate the engine on standard unleaded fuel (91 RON minimum), however if you choose to do so, you may notice some minor loss of performance, economy and increased engine noise."

Personally, I've gone away from 91 because there was perceptible difference with premium fuel. Could be a psychological thing, but I like to pamper my car.
