Default AU Carpets

Just a quick question. How come there are so many AU's with a black interior but with grey carpet? I have seen Fairlanes with an all black interior with grey carpet. I cant understand it. I have looked through the brochure scans and there is black carpet, but there are more cars with grey carpet.

So what models came with black carpet?
How does one get black carpet? Are there places that do moulded carpets. I know there are companies that do old Ford carpets but what about the modern stuff?

Cheers,
Chief

i'de say there aint many cars with black carpet because it shows the dirt really easilly , as you have probablly noticed light/mid/dark grey carpets seem to hide the dirt a bit better !.

Well that was quick. Thank you all.

This is what I mean, it seems to be the luck if the draw weather you get black or not.

Here is the next thing. Can you get black carpet for the wagon? The front and rear seats are interchangeable but what about the wagon section of the car?

Cheers everyone

Might be best getting a roll of it and cutting it to size ... use your old carpet as a template ... might be your best bet.

Most but not all got the Warm Charcoal carpet and the rest got black if it was a darker interior and not the lighter grey.

I beleive it was this company. Hopefully they make a black super plush carpet for au2 falcons. They seem to have very good prices as well.

Thank You duffman.

On their websie it says they make moulded carpets for AU's. I will find out what colours ( I think they should be able to do all) the type of carpet, postage costs and will get back to everyone.

Plus they do wagons as well!!!!

Hey - Go to Clark Rubber. I'm restoring an old Holden and doing some custom trimming. They have a massive roll of Thick black valour car carpet. They sell it by the meter - about 2M wide I think, and about $20 odd bucks a meter. Give emm a call or go down there for yourself

Hay cheif I contacted them they told me $135 for super plush carpet to fit an au sedan. What im wondering is how does it fit around the plastic section for your feet on the drivers side. Super plus sounds super nice

I was also quoted $135. What plastic bit are you talking about? The footrest? Also was told they can do the wagon liner as well. So I will de definently getting this for the interior (when ever it happens....)

Seems like a pretty reasonable price. For the record the carpet in my AUIII XR is Warm Charcoal *cough* dark grey (same with the carpet mats with the purple XR stitching); the Komet Konstruct Cloth *cough* trim is black though.
