OK, like the previous Ferrari or Lambo thread - except for long wheel base luxury.
Assume money is no object, don't worry about the woodgrain coming from clearfelled rainforests. I'll start off - Jaguar XJ LWB, the generation from 2009 onward or so (X351). Incredible interior and dash design, bold and successful breaking from traditional styling. My grandad always had an XJ6, so this is my choice over much more opulent cars like the Bentleys and Rollers. (My smarter choice: ZC 351 Fairlane, more simple and probably will go up rather than down) What is your all time luxo-barge?

That's a difficult question. I'll always have an affinity for the Mercedes-Benz S-class, so that'll definitely be on my shopping list. But right now, I'm in love with the new Bentley Flying Spur.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the next Rolls-Royce Ghost. If money is no object, all of these cars will be in my dream car garage, along with the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Bentley Continental GT.

Barge wise,
A Mercedes 600 Pullman would be nice. maybe a RR Cornishe, both would send you broke in a month I reckon. edit we both picked Mercs and Rollers NX74205 yours are slightly newer.

Well, if we're talking needless luxury, the RR starlight headliner had always been one of my favourite accessories.
https://luxurylaunches.com/transport..._its_101ex.php Maybe i could retrofit one into a Fairlane Sportsman.

I didn't know what to choose so I went to Carsales, set the search for sedans above $150K and then set the sorting to Price (High to Low)...and subsequently sprayed my coffee out over the keyboard...after 10 Rolls Royce models the 11th car down the list was an XY Phase III GTHO manual...
Now with the utmost of respect for the Ford legend I settled on a 2020 Bentley Flying Spur Auto AWD MY20 in Dark Sapphire as the GTHO is about $40K more expensive...and more likely to be stolen at the local shopping centre. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...8728729/?Cr=13 There is something "deliciously wicked" about doing a 3.8sec 0-100km/hr in something so outstandingly crafted. 2nd Gen V12 Aston Martin Vanquish
Everything else is just ugly! Yes it's only a 4 seater with 2 doors... But who in their right mind wouldn't want to be in the drivers seat of one of these things. It is a longer wheel base than the smaller Astons.

Any Ford Falcon is a luxo barge really!
But in all seriousness I'd take a Maserati 4 door |

Already own it - 560SEL. Proper 300hp spec not de tuned 260hp Aus model.
If money is no object Mercedes 600 Pullman or 57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. Realistically I’d like to have next to the 560 a W140 600SEL V12, BMW E32 750iL V12, AU T3 TL50 and BF G8 if there’s any good ones left. Keeping an eye out for an e32 currently. Not a lot around these days. |

I would have to say the Mercedes W140 S600L, for some reason they still make you look like a Very Important Person

As a service manager in a MB dealership around 1980, I got to drive a couple of MB 450SEL 6.9 around a bit. These were externally same as 450 LWB S class Mercs, but with a 6.9 litre OHC injected petrol engine, and hydro-pneumatic suspension, for a 1900kg car they handled pretty well. Most common factory option was "delete 6.9 badge" - making it a real wolf in sheep's clothing. I liked them!
But my favourites would be from my time as a mechanic in a Ford dealership in the late 1960s - driving a big 390ci Ford Galaxie around certainly made me smile. My mate reckoned that on a wet road, after a while you had to get out and look which way the front wheels were pointing before you could continue - handling and steering was certainly luxo-barge. The boss had a Lincoln Continental, that was another level again, but I never got to drive that. Cheers.

Something from Crewe with a body by MPW, and preferably hydraulic front struts (so, 66/67).
Royal blue, with a pale blue (preferably) or biscuit interior. |

P6 Silver Monarch.
I'm of the opinion a luxobarge should have seats with a foot of padding and suspension that behaves like a waterbed. Any luxobarge that has anything 'sporty' is not a proper luxobarge.

Me, I'd pick a P5, I like 'em better than the P6.
