Default walbro 255 into au fuel pump housing

Hey guys,

Anybody got photos of how they fitted a walbro 255 fuel pump to their original au falcon fuel pump housing?

Regards, Alex.

Ah very cool! Is it safe to hold with cable ties? Also, how do you get the original hose clamps off the fuel line in the pump? Cant seem to get them lol

MMMM - Seems familiar!

The pump has been in with cable ties now for over 3 years, and although I have not checked them, there is no issues. That one is a Walbro GSS342.

Dave's option of a hose clamp would probably be a better option.

Cheers
Stu

I've gone with cutting the housing slightly for the fitment of a hose clamp, I have also wrapped the pump in an EB rubber fuel pump housing. Should be good to fit to the car by tonight

Could be wrong orientation, or wrong fuel sock style. Theres a few models of the walbro 255.

Looks the same as both Stu's and Bottledup's pictures?

I measured the depth from the old unit, both 180mm from top down to sock

Not too sure, ill i can think is, one you have dud which isnt uncommon, a mate bought a deutschworks 300lph and was a dud from get go.

Its not sitting in the tank properly, or sock not sitting properly.

Going to have to take it out to check it and reinstall making sure everything is a1.

Whilst you are at it - check the basket location by looking through the hole where the pump and sender came out. Just to make sure nothing is abmormal / fouling the pump.

Cheers

Mine has been in the car for just under 2 years and running some decent power now. But I have been stoked with this pump and it is relatively easy to replace if this one packs up. Surging most likely due the wrong orientation of the sock I had this issue with my original pump.

Does anyone know if our pumps are a constant 12v or regulated ?

From http://www.fuel-pumps.net/fuelpumpsfaq7.html

Quote:
the computer senses the fuel pressure and controls it by sending a "pulse wave modulated" (PWM) signal to the fuel pump. To simplify, this means that it alters the voltage to control the pressure output by the fuel pump. This works well with many turbine-style fuel pumps, but the Walbro 255 LPH fuel pumps are gearotor-style. The low voltages that PWM-controlled systems generate cause them to start "cogging", which can result in reduced pump longevity.
my GSS342 failed and have a new GSS340 ready to go but reluctant to install atm till i know more

Any advice would be great
