Yeah it's a little bit naive to suggest a 2009 build car is no. 1. in a top ten aussie muscle car list, even before getting into the muscle "cubic inches vs forced induction" argument.

The magazine would have given Ford more merit in awarding it to the BA F6 Typhoon, but as everyone chooses to ignore, the car is gracefully sliding down the resale lists as Ford keeps on cannibalising it by evolving the performance and power of FG XR6Ts.

Not much credibility in that list with a VK SS beating the Phase 3.

The GTHO did not win? Fastest 4 door production car in the world not good enough? :

VKSS but no VN Group A, VK SS in front of the 350 Monaro. Sounds like a list just made up on the spot to me.

It is always amusing to read all the arcing up when a list is made and someones's "precious" does not win.

A Ford is on the top of the pile. The FG F6 is the quickest Australian made Ford ever and the quickest Australian car with an Australian designed and built engine. Be happy with this, next year it might be different.

Some seem to complain that certain holdens are above the GTHO on the list, but weren't they quicker, even though they were later?

The world does not stand still and what was once the leader is now just a part of history.

Just like the Roman Empire, the Supermarine Spitfire, the Tyranosaurus Rex or Michael Jackson, being at the top is a very transitory thing.

Never though I'd see Ford get paid out on for improving the breed.

Ahh yes, the the Tyranosaurus Rex.

Now that was a weapon! Even better than the STi if I recall......

No it's more along the lines of calling an Evo 10 the world's best rally car when an Evo 11 is around the corner - the F6 is still evolving, it's not at its peak and therefore shouldn't warrant number one spot as on average, a decade later it's "just another turbo'ed falcon".

All those other cars on that list pretty much represented the pinnacle of their breed.

Lets just call it....Ford Australias fastest and greatest car to date then, I think we are very lucky that Ford Australia is making such a good high performance sedan that offers so much bang for the buck in 2009.

So what you are saying is that in 1971 the GTHO P3 was just another car evolving into something better? And as it is not as quick as a FG GT it is now just another V8 falcon.......

Are you sure that is what you are saying.......

HAHA Thanks to all those getting their bum in a bind over a list that a magazine has released.
A most enjoyable few minutes of reading.

I would happily have any one of those cars from that list in my garage. Or all of them.. preferably.

I would count the F6 as a muscle car and any of the other modern V8s for that matter, they may not be the originals but are muscle cars none the less. An XY GT was a fast Falcon back in the 70s just as a FG GT is a fast Falcon today there really is no difference in the intent of the car.

Congrats to the F6.

I love this annual thread, every year Motor bring out the "best musclecar ever list" every year its different... so what changed?
Every year it brings out much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands..
I find it funny now!

Oh, and to answer your question? well only 8 out of the 10 have racing pedigree!!

No I'm saying the FG will evolve into something even better and therefore I don't think it should be included in the muscle car list - I would rather see the BA F6 Typhoon included as it was "the first of breed" (ignoring XR6T) of the high performance falcon turbos.

Every car on the list evolved from something and evolved into something better.. (except the E49.. not sure how that got there..!)
