Default Last Night's story

so it was about 1am, kinda bored and no intention to goto sleep.
then i get a message from dcstriaght, wanting to check out fed square for the soccer, having nothing to do today i say 'yeah sure lets go'
he also mentions the krispy kreme store being open.
now we were fully aware of how popular they are, and the length of the lines people have waited in to get them.

so at about 2:30 we get to the KK store, now we were expecing a bit of a line, but there was close to 80 cars in the line.
being there we decide to wait to get our fix, now i can't say i'd normally wait over an hour for some donuts, it was just one of those things you've gotta try so you can atleast say you did.

between the broken down cars (idling for an hour doesn't agree with some cars), excited ppl yelling from cars and the fact that cops ever had to block off certain parts of the carpark to sort out the line we managed to get our donuts at about 3:40, yep, over an hour of waiting.

so we've got our 12 donuts which cost $12.90, (the maximum they'll sell to each car atm)
we pull out of the drive through and theres a couple standing there, they ask if we managed to get some, we say yes.
then they mention they had to wait 2 hours earlier that day, they had had a few drinks so coudln'lt line up to go through the drivethrough and when i told them we'd waited an hour they offered us $5 for 1 donut...
well since we had 12 and no intention of eating them all in a hurry i say 'sure, for $5 you can have 2'
so they're scrammbling for change and just hand over a heap of coin, i didnt count it just assumed it'd be around $5 (they handed me a fair bit)
hand over the 2 donuts and on our way, they were very happy.

so start heading back to melbourne and count the money on the way... they handed us $11.20 for 2 donuts, almost paid for the whole box.

just thought i'd say, ppl are crazy, waiting in a 1 hour line for donuts at 3:30 am....

oh and the soccer wasnt bad either :P

What about the doughnut burger?????

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2362369

The ballpark sandwich will include a hamburger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon -- all between a "bun" made of a sliced Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut. 1000 calories in each...

While I love donuts, I can't say I would ever wait that long to get them... The simple fact is, I am so impatient.

..Actually got me craving them now.. how much to get ya to post me one? Ha Ha Ha... seriously..

Cheers,
Nik

One of my cousins waited for 5 hours in the queue last night. They made a night of it like chapel street.

5 hours, we could make the queue an E-series meet!

We were talking about it later, apparently the store can make 400 boxes of the original style doughnuts an hour. Thats like $5000 an hour. Or $125k a day. For some deep fried dough.

Would pay for the shop in a few days. What an investment!

Good on 'em I say. You can't buy publicity like that (well you can but it costs thousands)...it was all over the radio yesterday.

Although looking at the picture of the doughnuts, they look pretty disgusting and I don't think I would have waited more than 5 mins unless I was drunk :P

My girlfriend and heaps of other people tried to bu a franchise and open up a store or 2 in melbourne before the FountainGate store opened.

Apparently the owner wanted to run it himself instead of franshising. Their spewing now though, that store would be raking it in right now.
