Welcome to the new internet phenomena, where a mouse click means a fact! (meanwhile there are still some people who think that a mouse click simply means a mouse click)
But lets continue with the mouse click popular logic, if I click on their article 100 times, then what does that mean? |

its always been more popular then a falcon... lol!
Lets be honest, even non-car people will recognise a mustang and the mustang has always had that cool factor.. The real test for the mustang will be, can it keep the cool factor in Australia when they will be ready available to the buying public, where previously its was a some what of a special car only available in the states and someone had to import it to Australia.

Yes its an icon in its own right, like Coca-Cola etc....and its new. We will see how its going after 12 months but there seems like there will be enough updates along the way to keep it in the press.
Hope they race one here....remember the Mustang RA...Id make love to that car.

Fords usual practice is to price the new car far too high and support it with a poor quality marketing campaign. Wait twelve months and during that time do nothing else to support the car. When asked by the auto media how its selling claim "supply issues" or "we are happy with current numbers" while of course doing everything to obfuscate the said numbers, which no one least of all the media and the general public believes. Only Ford marketing and Ford fan boys at this point are in denial that the launch has gone wrong. Meanwhile endless media coverage of the price of Mustang in Australia vs the US will really hurt the car. That is IF there is no warranty and/or customer satisfaction issues with the car to report. Add that to the mix if there is.This forum will fill up with usual "This magazine/web site/journalist hates Ford" while the issue of Mustangs pricing is mostly ignored. in eighteen months to three years from launch, drop price to something like what launch price should have been in the first place, but by then all the buzz for the car is gone and so is a good number of the potential customers. That is the pattern of behaviour Ford need to break with the Mustang. It has to be priced so low it generates media coverage just for that. Think Toyota 86. This car has to sell because it would be crazy not to buy a car at the price its at. Otherwise I suspect we will see a good start as pent up demand is met and then a trailing off that never recovers. Just look at today's biggest sellers
SUV's Fuel efficient/luxury sedans 4x4 Utes 2 door "sports" cars - nope Ford could price it at $25k and a lot of people would still not be able to justify buying it. |

of course people are interested in it, Australia has been waiting nearly 60 years for them to be sold here. Are they all bloody retarded over there at ford marketing or what? They must think that the only people that will buy them are ex-FPV customers. Mustang is iconic they will get people that would otherwise be driving a golf or a veloseter or worse, a hsv looking at them, but as Daniel said, its all about the price.

oh I fully agree... the pricing of the mustang will be make or break the mustang here in Australia for sure.. considering its from the factory now, not been converted after been built.. so price needs to be decent. 55-60k for the V8 Max... otherwise not sure how it will go.
one good thing about the mustang is that it will get updated every year... some will be tech upgrades, some will be minor or major styling or drive line changes... it wont be like the falcon where u can wait years for an update. Also 2 door cars do struggle in the long term in OZ,,, look at the Monaro and now the start of the decline of Toyota 86 sales.. they sell crazy for the first year or 2, but they die off soon after... the difference with this is that it has World appeal, its not just a 2 door commodore or falcon, and it actually has some power (the 86 is gutless show pony) and there is probably a lot of people that have grown up dreaming of owning a mustang and now can. but as said before... pricing will make or break it for the mustang.. its not a premium vehicle, so don't charge premium prices..

EOI means what? Someone on FOA's website saying 'keep me informed' or whatever? Or genuine dealer enquiries....?

Everyone wanted to buy a brand new Monaro too when Holden originally premiered it in VT form. But wanting one, and actually buying one are two different things..........

Way too early to tell. lets see how many of these "EOI's" actually open their wallet when they are released, I am tipping less than 25% will.

True, but let's not compare a Monaro with an International icon. The gap between them is massive.

It's going to perform & with the coupe euros, it's an icon, almost everyone with a little rev in them and those without will want one and know what it is instantly on the road in time. Simply, lets hope it's priced right, unlike the last rhd mustang, it should surprise every camp. If ford keeps it to monaro pricing and nothing too "give me a reason" why they did that.

I just hope this new Mustang doesn't end up with sales like the Monaro.
ie/ sales went off with a bang, then sort of disappeared into nothing. Have they released where Ford are building these Mustangs yet? Should they limit how many they import per month to 1000? or should they go gang busters and flood the market? |

Luckily for Ford Australia, the cost of bringing Mustang here will be smaller then anything else prior, they don't have to establish the model, the marketing material will be modified US stuff apart from maybe a local ad and then the costs of supporting a model through spares, dealer training etc and the engine is similar to the FVP's less supercharger. I bet the new headlights on FG X cost more, lol, well maybe a little more. And I think Ford US will be more supportive to Ford Aust. for stock then Ford Europe, which doesn't understand that an auto option for cars is just as important as a manual in overseas markets.
