Default Danny's EF Falcon 0-100 time Correvit tested!!

A correvit is what the motoring Mags use to measure different times like 0-100, 400m, etc etc. That said, I had one hooked up to my car last night coutesy of the Alfa Romeo Club boys.

We had a rather long concrete driveway in order to do the timing (too short for quarter mile unfortunately), and after a couple of warm ups, we fired up the correvit and took two seperate runs/times for my car (I was to afraid to do anymore, read:Relaibility issues and a softc*ck driver sleep: )

I was expecting a time of low 8 somewhere but alas I was surprised!

First run, recorded a time of 7.8 seconds off the mark with no wheelspin in first, as i thought that traction was the key to a good time, however this was not the case.

The second run I stalled her up, stepped off the clutch to get a smallish amount of wheelspin to launch. I changed at around 4500 in first, and then dragged out second to let it hit the ton, and recorded a scorching (EDIT: The scorching comment was a joke lol!!) sprint time of 7.4 seconds. Thats one thenth quicker than an SV6 5 speed auto!

I was pretty impressed, and surprised and happy with the result. Given more runs, i would have been able to try different techniques and get a better time, however at this stage I did only 2 runs. I didnt wanna be stuck in woop woop with a blown up car! lol I guess I just worry too much!

Not bad for an Ole clagger ey?

Ps. The Other guy there had an 80's model Alfa GTV with an aftermarket Turbs bolted on. I sat in it while he did his 0-100 and have never felt anything that quick in my life. After a mere 4.4s, the correvit beeped to let us know we'd reached the ton....... : Unbeleiveable.....

Jeez that's a pretty decent time, I see in your sig that you've got a exhaust and CAI, is there anything else done to the car (performance wise?)

Changed the whole intake setup 10cm pipe from the airbox to the brake duct EL Intake piping, last night was also a cold night too, that would have helped.

What RPM were you doing in 2nd once you hit 100kmh?

It'd be close to 5000revs i'm guessing, maybe more .. Danny, i woulda tried revving 1st out a bit morethen changing to make sure you when you shifted to second, you were at max power for the next stretch..

I didnt rev out 1st because I was being mechanically sympathetic.......

Besides, John makes a good point in saying that It just makes noise and no power after 4000RPM anyways. The first run I maxed out first and I got a slower time, I was trying different techniques. I wish the needle went green at the right point so I could perfect shift! My Barina on NFS UG2 does that.......

In answer to the question, to reach 100km/h in second, the gear ratios ensure that the car must be revved out to about 5500RPM before it hits the ton.

I was thinking of doing this the other day, but did you have to cut a hole in any parts of the car to get the pipe up through to the airbox?

Had to cut a hole through the steel underneath the airbox, and then in the airbox itself

It's not about the power it makes in 1st, it's about where the needle ends up when you shift. You want the needle to land at max power in second, not below max power. This is why you are meant to rev 1st gear out.. If you were hitting 5500rpm in second to land the ton, why not rev to 5500 in 1st too?

Yes...

Yagz my car doesn't like the redline for a split second let alone 2 and a half minutes... (lol Personal Joke)

I knew to hit 100 in second it had to rev out.. It had freaked me out a bit earlier with a stinky clutch so i was a bit worried to keep on hammering.....

Next time ill be trying many a different thing to see how much lower I can get it.
