Question Thumping during Auto gear Change

Hello Guys

Have an EF Fairmont wagon (on Gas) Seems when motor is hot the gear changes coming up are quite severe with a nasty belt moving around 2-3-O/D. Doesn't do it all the time, but most of the time.

ANyone with a suggestion what it might be??

Many thanks in advance

S5 solonoid might be worn, It would be in very much a need of a service. Visit a good transmission place and get them to check it out. Without doing that its just speculation

hmm...wel I just had mine serviced, and the other day I went to kick down hard at 40 to over take and there was a large thud..pretty sre it was from the diff.

Either way autos suck ИИИИ and I wish I had my manual back...looks like I should just stick to 1/2 throttle and no more :(

I cant believe how badly these boxes shift, I thought BA/BF 4spds where bad, they have nothing on my car.

And then there is the first gear whine!!! What is sad is that I know BA/BF's have the exact same thing, and its a design trafe-off........... :togo:

Auto needs a service BAD. My old EF does this, filter's probably blocked causing the trans fluid flow to be restricted, heating up the fluid. THe fluid is probably as old ad the car is as well...

I have had a thumping transmission for quite some time. I've had it serviced, but that hasn't helped. I don't think doing 200,000kms with the original filter helped it a lot. It continues to live though. The main problem with mine is the 1st to 2nd gearchange, particularily when I rev it hard in 1st gear before it shifts. I also have the 1st gear whine, but it's the thumping that concerns me.
