3 & 4 appear to be front bumper brackets off a HQ Holden.

1. I'll try that. I think you are right 2. Is this for capri v6 or another model? I didn't think it looked like my bell housing shape 3&4 I'll take that for granted. 5. I checked this but the holes don't line up with my bellhousing. I'll post a pic tonight to confirm. Could it be from an auto model?

No 3 is an adapter to fit a 2 barrel holley carb to an engine originally fitted with a 2 bbl stromberg or carter carb.If you got sick of your old car fitting a Holley was a good way of it catching fire and burning to the ground!!!

darn, too slow at this game ...
However, number 10 - I was going to say rear parcel shelf somewhere, but I think I'll go for ... Heater Box floor vent near transmission tunnel, part no E920-T-1 (rhs) and E921-T-1 (lhs) , just below the tab on the heater box which supports your parcel shelf. Refer section 180 Heating and Ventilation Units@ bottom of page in the Ford Parts manual. Ha !! that's 1 point to me !!! (I did also correctly identify 7, 9 and 11, but wasn't the first so no points gained.) Hang onto these photos, would make great trivia night questions ..... |

12. (pass) Not Ford - The plating suggests something newer than early 1970s. Taper tip suggests Japanese (çoz they actually think about making assembly easy !!!)
13. Capri - Air diffuser from base of heater box. 14. (pass) I presume that is metal and not felt? 15. (pass) Not Ford - Looks like a timing chain auto (spring loaded block) adjuster bolt. (designed to rotate in a sleeve, frequently). 16. (pass) Not ford - looks like a throttle cable bracket that has adjusting with lock nuts. 17. Not Ford - Door striker plate. Not Capri at least. Hmm... only 1 point today. |

I like this game.....If I went thru my shed it would blow your guys minds. The previous owner of 2 of my cars (deceased estate) was into early falcons and motorbikes. I was given a whole heap of stuff I have never been able to identify.
I have listed stuff on ebay for 99c and someone usually identifies it. |

Oh, number 10 are trims that were fitted to the base of Capri rear quarter internal trims. Where they meet the floor of the car.
They are upside down in the picture which makes them hard to spot. |

Not arguing. It was a just guess based on a very brief look.
I don't have a parts manual to refer to, just my foggy memory. |

I once tried using my parts manual as bedtime reading, to put me to sleep. You know the kind of book; plain pics and boring text with no plot line to follow. Unfortunately, all it did was make the brain go faster dreaming up more crazy possibilities !!! |

Ok so I am now trying to fit this breather tube but I have no idea how it goes on the car. My service manual doesnt have a pic so does anyone have a pic from the parts manual? I think it attaches to the fuel filler neck, and a vent hose goes from the fuel tank to one end of this piece and then it continues to the small opening underneath the fuel cap??
Any help much appreciated. The tank is in and the fuel cap will arrive any day now. Getting close to starting the motor, one piece at a time.

the small opening underneath the fuel cap??
...... is a drain for overflow, goes from dish of filler cap (outside, under flap) to a hole in the inner skirt just behind the wheel arch. Very rarely 'activated'. Supposed to stop the embarrassing stains down the side of the car. Not connected to fuel tank in any way. In the pic above, the downward hose from the metal loop (item 7) , IIRC just vents outside thru the floor (but i'd have to go and have a look). ..... At grommet 0706348 under 44725-S washer. Hope this makes sense. p.s. any more random bits for identification? |

Ok thanks thats golden, thanks heaps.
I'll do the vent pipe first as I am pretty sure I know the grommet you are referring to. Although he doesnt answer to the name 0706348. In fact he doesnt answer me at all. As for the overflow drain, I think I know the exit point you are talking about because I think it was cut out during rust repairs and replaced with blank sheet metal.... So I guess ill drill a new hole for it. This might mean I may need to install the battery on the passenger side instead of the drivers side. For anyone who has put the battery in the boot on a capri, is there a preference? As for mystery parts, I have a few which ill post once I get my computers with the pictures sorted out.

A: Opening in the rear inside fender for the fuel overflow tube B: Opening for the fuel tank vent (just near where the fuel supply hose comes through). This one I am not sure of because the hole looks small. A: B:

14 looks like a handbrake cable joiner, wouldn't know if it's Capri or not though.

18. Mounting brackets for Rego plate to front bumper
19. Finishing trim for rear parcel shelf (drivers side) 21. Looks like bracket with timing light markings, but not sure if it's capri 22. I think this is a spacer that fits over the windscreen wiper spindles on capris 23. Not sure, but they look familiar 24. Bottom radiator deflector panel This game is fun. |

Darn, too slow ... (thanks Windows 10 roll-back crash !!)
18. As above. Yup. 19. As above. Yup. 20. Pass. 21 - Yes timing. Not V6, which has the timing points as part of a moulded knob on the front of the .... timing ... cover. 22. Windscreen wiper spacer, inside car, under scuttle. Lugs point down IIRC (?) and wrap around black mounting bracket - not moving arms. Ensures clearance of oscillating arms under scuttle panel. 23. c-pillar headlining hooks and parcel shelf support that 19 screws to. Mount these on shell, stretch headling and staple to those nasty triangular tabs to keep the stretch, and 19 screws into the inward facing face to stop your shelf rattling around. 24. Radiator shroud - agreed. But if this is bottom V6 then well done. Never seen one OEM. 25. Something you would stretch a small coil spring to e.g. throttle spring mount. But not Capri V6. 26. Pass. I think we're all ready for some more fun now ........ Last edited by allanv6gt; 01-09-2016 at 08:50 PM. |
