Default H&R springs

My springs have finally arrived from the US today!! After more than 3 months, i finally got the call today. Never again am i going via regualr post!

Anyways, booked in to get them fitted tomorrow at WA suspensions. They reckon they needed all day to do it.... but i had work at 4pm, so he reckons if i bring it at 8am, he can do it for me by 2:30.

Damn, i feel like a kid with a new toy lol

3 months?! ouch! Go with CFM next time - best prices and they use Express post so you get it in about a week.

Yeah I know the feeling, I was pretty excited when my Eibach's arrived. If you didn't order a rear camber kit with the springs, you best put aside $70 (cost of Steeda kit avail. from CFM) coz our cars don't have rear camber adjustment.

My Eibach springs threw my rear camber out to -2.5 º and I think the H&R springs are lower again and my guess is that yours will be thrown out by even more. Running a bit of negative camber on the back will give you awesome rear grip, but that can mean understeer and besides that, you don't wanna scrub those expensive boots either.

Btw, you will need two wheel alignments (one when you first have the springs put in and another at 1000km) and if both front and rear are required, your looking at $100 each time. I’m not trying to spoil your excitement, but be aware it can be a costly exercise.

Anyway I'll be interested to hear how much your rear camber is out by, and also to see some pics of the finished product! :voldar02:

I got them from a place called Wheel Specialists Inc in Tempe Arizona. Good blokes, easy to talk to and more than willing to bargain. My girlfriends dad went there for a business trip and he said that place is massive and very reputable.
I said to them id cosider some rims at a later stage. Their Oz Racing rims are cheap, plus the possibility of a discount too if you ask for it. But definately no more regular post

No compatibility issues should arise. I contacted H&R before i purchased them and they said that there were 2 part number and they were same, one for US market, and one for the EU market

Well the springs went on without a glitch on Thursday. The front camber is currently hovering around -1 degree, which is good. The rears is a bit of a worry, with one being -1.75 degrees, and the other being -2.25 degrees, so a rear camber kit is on the agenda, and most probably do some other bits and pieces at the same time. Why they would be so different is beyond me...

But i had a bit of a blast on the weekend, didnt get to push it as hard as i would have liked to, coz the guy at WA suspensions warned me saying it will handle differently to previous, so take it easy at first. It didnt lower it as much as id hoped, but i think any lower, and id be scraping on a lot of bumps and driveways which i normally encounter everyday.

But what i do like is how it goes so far. Much firmer, which i like, and it doesnt roll as much around the corners. "Scrubbing" is almost non existant, it just goes like its on rails. One very happy camper :

Just waiting for it to stop raining here so i can wash my car and take some pics.

I've been told the cars stock have a slightly different height from left to right so the car is most balanced when a driver is in, ie an extra 60-100kgs on the drivers side. Obviously it's next to nothing though. So not sure if that has anything to do with it, but that was with stock springs anyway.

Not sure about height differences, but the reason the camber differs from left to right is that the actual roads we drive on have a slight camber to them. The lesser camber on the right hand side of the car allows for this.

Tom, go with the Steeda rear camber kit from cfm, it did the trick for me and the boys at WA suspensions will know exactly what they're doing coz they fitted mine.

Ive had a look at this, but id only get a 1 degree change either way. Im not sure this will be enough. What was your rear camber brought back to? Im thinking -1 degree on each side would be good, but with this kit, id only be able to get back to -1.25 degrees on one side.... will have to give WA suspensions a visit again and get some advice.

Im looking at the Whiteline rear camber adjustment, but it replaces the whole rear control arm. Not sure if i wana be doing this now.

Finally managed to update my eurofordclub account with some new pics since i got my springs fitted

http://www.eurofordclub.com/php/details.php?m=chevaps

I really need to take some classes on taking good photos, coz these ones are shocking. Just cant seem to get the right height, angles and car position :/

Hey Tom

Had a look at your new pictures, and they aren't all that bad! I does take alot of playing around to get the photos you want, trying to find the angles that highlight the lines of the car. Your photos do seem to have a yellowy / green tint to them, but that's easily corrected in a program like photoshop.

However - photos aside, the car looks fantastic! The suspension looks really good. The air in the guards is what I wished I always had... how do you find the front bar clearance wise?

Its fine, over normal bumps as such. But i do carry out caution when going up driveways and going over speed bumps just to be sure.

My sister took my car out not long ago, first time she drove it since the springs were fitted, and i watched as she exited the driveway, not enough of an angle and BANG/SCRAPE. Sent a shiver down my spine..... GRRR

How many times did i warn her to take it easy and go on an angle
