Going to a wedding in Tassie early next year for a week and from what I have read it has very scenic roads that would be great to tour around on in my down time.
Hence looking for something a little nicer than your average hire Corolla but cant seem to find much. Looked at all the usual websites - hertz, europcar, avis, budget ect. Best I can find is an Audi A3/A4. Was hoping for something with a little more poke or at least a BMW badge (may as well treat myself once in a while).... Anyone know of any other hire car companies down there (specifically Launceston or Hobart).

From what I know Europcar will be the best bet. There is a company down here (somewhere) that does Muscle cars as an alternative.
A couple of years ago I do remember a company that would hire out anything as long as their Melbourne depot had them, and they would put them on the boat (Spirit of Tasmania). That could be an option for you if you fail to find somthing in Tassie. Hire from Melbourne and come over on the boat with it.

From the page.
You don't have to buy a luxury car just to drive one any more, there are a large range of sports cars for hire in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport to choose from. There a large range of convertible sports car brands availabe such as BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover and much more. If you are wanting a car for a period of 7 days or more and can not find the car of your choice in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport, we can arrange for any cars from another location to be transfered to Hobart, Launceston or Devonport to fulfil your rental requirement. This then provides you with access to more than 250 luxury cars for rental in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport including Porsche, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lotus, Audi and many more..... So could be worth a call???
