Default VCT Power Loss

Hi all and happy new year to ya!

I converted my AU series I Forte auto to a VCT 5 speed a little while ago, Was a hell of a job but got it all done. I had a heap power and most other VCT owners I knew were jealous with how quick and agggresive it was. Anyway as quick as it was it also had a crap idle so I took it to my local Ford service centre where they diagnosed my TPS was stuffed! So with the TPS replaced I now have a smooth idle but have lost about 10-15% in power! Could the loss of power be TPS related or could it be something totally different? Any help would be great or anyone that could point me in the direction of someone in the know would be great.

Cheers,

Kirky

Make sure Ford didn't do a "flash" upgrade of your ECU. They may have, and if so, they may have upgraded the Forte program, not the VCT.

Thanks JC I will try to find out. If they have done this do you know if it is easy enough for them to change it back?

So does this mean you can re-Flash the ECU with a different ROM from another model? I thought you couldn't do that? Am I very wrong?

When ford Tuned my car i lost a Shipload of power. Was doing 0-100 in 8 second now does in the 11 seconds. Took it back and they said it is perfect, nothing wrong with it. Not taking it back to them again.

Kirky, what's the TPS? How much did it cost?
