Default any 1 swapped to 351 windsor block in AU

Just wondering if anyone out there has swapped the 5 litre block in their AU for a 351 windsor block and what issues there were with things like tower clearance exhaust and bonnet etc.

The engine bay is virtually identical to the E series bay, have you had a look at the guys doing 351 conversions to those?

i wanted to stick a big old school V8 into my AU for a long time, but apparently there are alot of issues you have to take into account before really going ahead with it.

good luck if you do mate!
Cheers

and on the same train of thought as outback ute, the AU bay is the same as the BA and they fit the modular bent eights in there so a 351 C or W will fit easy

I've often dreamt about building up a 420 c.u. 351 based windsor for an AU.It would KICK ИИИИ.These kits are starting to become very affordable.

Is their any problems with firewall issues with the XR6's if putting in a 351 ( is the xr6 firewall thick enough ?), s an engineers certificate needed to put a 351 into a AU xr6 shell ? (engine/body weight issues). I still have an old 460 big block sitting around from years ago that nearlly went into my XE , now this would be nice in the AU ! ..lol, allthough i dont know if this would fit under the hood , and would prolly need every engineers certificate under the sun to put it in an AU ( thats if it would fit ! ) .

That's from up my way,and it does run a 351 clevo. They'd drop straight onto the wheezer engine mount's.

I Don't think it is Road Legal to drop an Old Carby fed V8 into a new car mate.

i am in the process of doing that conversion, however I am avoiding a lot of issues by not putting it back on the road. By the way the 51 windsor will fit better than the clevo due to the dimensions and angles of the block

Some one from Fordmods is about to drop a 427 in his EF Mont GHIA .... with NOS as well.

Has all the parts and has the engine there for fitting ... just no time.

Already got his FTR 427 plates though .... strange.
But should be interesting to see when it's completed ... also has a the BA bonnet bulge grafted into the standard bonnet as well (as current manifold rubbed against the standard bonnet.)
